When I read a Review written by a MS member Vishal today on Kidney Stones, I was very glad that MS site provides very? valuable information on physical awareness topics.

I have visually experienced my close friend Sathya suffering from severe(intolerable) pain due to kidney stone formation, which was identified at a very later stage who was left with nothing but the option of surgical removal under general anesthesia. Me and all of my colleagues were sincerely praying for him and it took almost about 6 months for him to recover and resume office.

There are 1000s of functionary parts on our body, out of which even just one gets off the track or malfunctions, then we are certainly into serious trouble. The urinary tract, or system, consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Many of us know that just like a Balloon, the urinary bladder's walls stretch and keep expanding regularly to store urine and then flatten when urine is emptied through the urethra to outside the body.

In fact more than what is known to us, there are lakhs and lakhs of unknown facts about the various urinary predicaments & in the case of kidney stones, sometimes it is never known to the patient in advance and 90% there is absolutely not even a single symptom but it would get developed to a stage where there?s no option but a surgery.

I think I could make my review a little informative on the most fearful bug called?Kidney Stones?. There are also 100s of websites which provide(online) valuable information on Kidney stones and how to prevent it at an early stage etc.

?Most common stones formed in the kidney contain calcium in combination with oxalate and/or phosphate.

?The balance of fluids and dissolved solids in the urine breaks down, and crystals form in the urine which results in an advanced stage of kidney stones formation

?Kidney stones strike most typically between the ages of 20 and 40. If a person forms a stone, there is a 50 percent chance they will develop another stone

?This occurs most frequently in men than the% of occurrence in women

CAUSES

?Although the accurate factors which play a role in Kidney stones formation have not yet been discovered, factors such as a family or personal history of kidney stones and other urinary infections or diseases have been identified to be responsible or found having a definite connection to this problem.

?Climate and water intake may also play a role in stone formation.

?Stones can also form because of obstruction to urinary passage like in prostate enlargement or stricture disease.

?Stone formation has also been linked to hyperparathyroidism, an endocrine disorder that results in more calcium in your urine.

?Stones may also form in people who have chronic inflammation of the bowel or who have had an intestinal bypass operation or ostomy . This is due to loss of more water from the body as well as absorption of oxalate from the intestine.

SYMPTOMS

My friend Sathya did not have any symptoms which lead to any suspicion on the formation of these kidney stones. The doctor then informed us that Sathya had?Silent Kidney Stones? which normally don?t produce any effects before moving on to the advanced stage. However, Sathya had been having constant triggering of a dull ache which was often confused or taken by him as a muscular or an intestinal pain.

But the Books & the online sites which provide the related information say that the general symptom of a kidney stone is extreme pain that has been described as being worse than child labor pains. The pain often begins suddenly as the stone moves in the urinary tract, causing irritation and blockage. My God, I just can't even imagine this. I am just similarly reminded of a dust which had entered into my eyes and was triggering constant pricking pain in one of my eyes, which took almost about 2 hours for me to clear it off. Such a simple pain itself was totally unbearable in my case, how could one just think of the kidney stone moving across, triggering an excruciating pain in the lower abdomen?

Also, sometimes the common complaints happen to be blood in the urine, nausea and/or vomiting. But mostly, blood in the urine happens to just be some severe urinary infection? but better we don?t take it so lightly.

More often, kidney stones are found on an X-ray or sonogram taken on someone who complains of blood in the urine or sudden pain. These diagnostic images give the doctor valuable information about the stone's size and location. Blood and urine tests also help detect any abnormal substance that might promote stone formation.

The general advice of the doctors is, if a person observes a drop of blood in the urine, it is advisable to immediately contact the urologist without any delay. Also sometimes severe burning sensation accompanied by a feverish feeling might be symptoms of the aforesaid illness.

The doctors vow that Science has reached quite an sophisticated stage that even the most advanced stages of kidney stones are removed in a very efficient way without much of a suffering for the patients. Also, early diagnosis are being cured just by a course of tablets which liquefy & dissolve the minute stones formed. Since men are customarily expected to get into the illness, men are recommended to keep a track on the above symptoms to avoid developed complications.

I thank my husband who?s a doctor, who had provided me with some basic information on Kidney stones & enabled me to share the same with my dearest MS friends. Ur valuable feedbacks / ratings are most welcome.
