Blessing in disguise

I truly feel divorce is a huge blessing in disguise.  I see and hear sooooo many people, especially women cry so much, and I have to admit it does irritate me sometimes.  that's because being a strong minded woman myself, I can't see another woman suffer and yet not do anything about it.  the indian society is very very very backward, narrow minded, and illiterate.  it's because of them that couples earlier would stay calm and silent for the sake of their family's stupid reputation more than their happiness.  india is the only country in the world that has arranged marriages and I think nowdays these backward, hypocritical and illiterate parents of this country are getting a taste of their own medicine which they deserve!

that's because divorce rates are now rising there.  before(during our parents' generation), couples would stay quiet and live the torture instead of divorcing because their families image is at stake in their idiotic society.  but now in a time when women are a lot more educated and bold, they actually speak out if they're not happy.

personally, I have a friend of mine who has lived in the U.S. for for almost 20 years and she is a very, very modern, strong headed, educated, and bold young 22 year old.  her parents are the exact opposite cause they are extremely conservative, backward, narrow minded, and selfish, im sorry to say this though.  they are forcing her to get married to a 31-year old from their small and backward community somewhere in bihar.   last summer her family took her to see him, but as they tricked her she had to get engaged!  she does not like this guy one bit and has cried, yelled, screamed, and fought with her parents like never before!

she is getting married this spring in india, but has vowed something probably most indian women would be very very afraid to do: never to be a'real' wife to him.  by'real' I mean she will never let him touch or sleep with her, so much so until he gets fed up and divorces her.   because they only reason she is actually going along with this entire charade is because she wants freedom and fierce independence which she never got living with her parents at home.

I know this story sounds very wierd and different but it's the truth.  I know a lot of comments will be negative towards too.  being a strong indian woman if I had to give advise to other divorced women, I would say, live your life, take each day as it comes, you are a young, beautiful, sexy, intellectual, strong minded, and well educated woman, do NOT sit there and moan and groan about how your life is soo bad because at the end you just took off a huge burden off of your mind and heart by ending a loveless and meaningless marriage.  this truly is a blessing in disguise!
