Director Priyadarshan's  slip-stick comedy DE DANA DAN is madcap, loud, joky yet ridiculously idiotic film which does not fulfill the best expectation of a re- HERA PHERI. It is recycled, re-storied and used as same formula of kidnapping story. Most of the film here, is set in a five-star hotel where there is run-off, confusion but not enough to laugh-from-the-whole. Simply, it is yet another Priyadarshan stuff  as a time -pass comedy.

Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suniel Shetty) are only lucky in love, otherwise their life is a big zero as is their bank balance. But now their rich girlfriends, Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (SameeraReddy**) have given them an ultimatum – earn enough money so that we can elope or forget us forever. Broke and desperate Nitin and Ram need to make big money and fast.

They hit upon an audacious plan to kidnap Moolchandji, the spoilt dog of rich brat Archana (Archana Puran Singh). But Moolchandji runs away, and the police think it’s Nitin who’s been kidnapped.

As the guys try to get their hands on the ransom money, they encounter assorted characters like a Chinese Don, a hired assassin, an ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) officer, a club dancer, an ambassador, a young frustrated wife, a letch, a drunken waiter and a dead body nobody wants.

The film goes whoo like a series- wedding, murder and at last a whole Titanic where a water tank bursts. There are cheap jokes which try to make you laugh, but you don't. For e.g. take the Moolchandiji joke, it first looks funnier but things get repetitive at a point and that's where you lose your patience.  It turgidly long, and there is no humor in the second half. And the climax is typical Priyadarshan climax where whole star-cast is running behind each other, shouting loud at their best which amateurishly special effected.

The second half is much spooky, very very cheap jokes and much long to a bore. The 2 hours 40 minutes film leaves you exhausted at the very early .

And then there is the biggest disappointment, no chemistry between the trio- Akshay, Paresh and Suniel. They are hardly there for a scene or a two giving not even a spark of fun. The film more concentrates on others and fails to look like a funnier entertainer because no chemistry, no HERA PHERI despite using the same formula.

Yes, there are jokes in between which make you laugh and roar, like Johny Lever's 'Tawwaif' joke or Archana's loud shout 'Teri Sasu Ma Ke Ghar, Ghajini Ki Aolad'  but these sparks are just a one or two. That's it!

Director Priyadarshan should stop making re-used or his used film and it will lower his own name. There's no vareity in the second half, much of it takes place in the hotel. Throwing out cheap jokes again and again feels exhausted.

Music dosen't has to do much.Pritam has scored much more in TUM MILE or APGK orLAK.Cinematography is worst. There is no demand as much of the film takes place in the hotel

Akshay Kumar throws a perfect comedy timing but here it's silly. And then he is locked for 40 minutes in the second half. We have seen him much in comedy films.

Suniel Shetty throws a good performance but he is still in his own mood.

And then the two ladies- Katrina and Sameera are just there for songs. Katrina's dubbing is such bad and Sameera hasn't got much words to say.

The supporting cast is wonder. Johny Lever is the best. Others like Archana Puran Singh, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav waste much of their time in shouting loud form the lungs.

DE DANA DAN is just a satisfactory film with no extra-ordinance. Cheap jokes and a vivaciously long running time, the film is a time-pass stuff.
