My daughter too studies in DAV, Adambakkam, and I have to concur with some of the views expressed above. 1. The school is the by far the only choice available for a decent CBSE School in the vicinity. 2. The teaching is not bad. 3. Not much extra curricular activities, no personality development, etc. 3. The kids are selected for competitions purely at the whims of the teachers. Whoever the miss fancies, gets to dance or play.! 4. Communications skills are poor. 5. The school is better than the other schools in the locality.
Overall, there are negatives to each and every school. I have my own reasons to let my daughter continue in that school. But the excursion incident discussed and the extra classes issue, I think is blown out of proportion. The teachers are not so bad, after all. I m quite okay with them. When my daughter refused to sit next to a boy, who kept playing pranks on her, I spoke to her teacher, who got her seat changed and let her sit where she chose to. Small issue, but a made a big difference to my child.
Only thing that bothers me is that they dont take much care about skill development of the child. That I take care of by sending to classes outside of school. So no issues other than that.
