I'm so happy that I got a chance to watch the much talked about movie of Kamal Hassan called Desavatharam. I'm not a fan of Kamal or anyone but I've liked many of his movies in the past. I also appreciate other actors movies too if they have touched me, without the language barrier.

Before going for the movie I had got a chance to hear about the kind of amazing special effects and the superb scenes of the 12th century.

Let me stop it there and talk about my opinion about the movie after watching it.

Kamal's acting as the character in the 12th century was really good. But sorry to say that the animation, the camera movements looked so artificial, very basic. The camera movements and some of the animations looked similar to the bow & arrow war in the serials like Ramayan and Mahabharath years back.

We can ignore the story because there is nothing much to talk about it. Story had the least priority in this movie. Importance was to cast 10 avatars of Kamal than he being part of the story. So thinking about the story itself is out of question according to me.

The so called much talked-about special effects in this movie lacked quality to a great extend and never looked realistic. At times I even got confused thinking 'did he try to take a cartoon or a movie itself?'. I would have been really happy if they could have made the special effects atleast cometitive to the movie "Krish". According to me Krish had some amazing scenes. Desavatharam never had timings for its animations. Many things were over done. Maybe its due to giving the special effects to agencies with less experience.

The make-up of most of the characters were horrible. Its hard to believe that a guy who acted in movies like Indian, Nayakan, Moonnam Pirai etc acted in such a movie or even thought of taking a movie like this.

The only character I liked in the movie on the whole was the Telugu Character. That was done really well. Then the Punjabi guy was fair enough. The Character as foriegner killer was okay but failed to keep the pace.

In the last scene, where BUSH(cannot stop laughing at this character), Manmohan Singh and Karunanidhi are sitting on a stage and Mr. Bush is invited to speak, there is a a style in which Mr. Bush gets up from the seat. A president getting up like that is acceptable. But not by serious actor like Kamal. I say leave those kind of styles to our ever loving start entertainer Rajnikanth. If Rajnikanth does that, we all enjoy it, because his movies are entertainers. But we cannot expect these from Kamal or not even a president(smiles).

The one item song is one of the most vulgar video that I have watched. I don't understand why the censor board let that song be screened. There are a lot of Pole dance in Indian and Western movies. But they never looked vulgar. This was pathetic. Item number means one should enjoy it and like to see it again but I was really feeling bad that I took my children for this movie, just because of this song.

Overall, this is one of the most flopped movie of 2008, according to me. If the movie met the expenses of 90 crore, I would say that this money should have been used in such a way that others too enjoy and the owner's get double the return instead of just satisfying or meeting the personal needs of the person called Kamal Hassan alone.

Again, I'm happy that I watched the movie because I'm able to see the kind of pathetic roles and movies a great actor like Kamal is taking up and also the standard of movies that people enjoy these days. Sorry to say. When I write this, please don't misunderstand that I'm an old fashioned guy of age 60 or 70. I'm only 32 but cannot stop saying that the standard of entertainment that people make and people enjoy have come down to a great extend that only cheap movies run well in theatres these days.

All the best Kamal for your future projects.
