Anybody who sees sht calls it a sht.Anybody who likes it should be retarded.This is my metaphor of dasavatharam-the 'magnum opus' that was in the making for more than two years.In the end the product is of the poorest quality ;so much so that, you might want to puke at it.It is so bad that I walked out of the theatre before the much hyped tsunami scene.I had begun to expect insane movies from Kamal after Mumbai Express, but this might well be the biggest dud that he has ever done!If in 2007, it was Ram gopal Varma ki AAG, then in 2008, there is definitely Dasavatharam!
The opening scenes of the movie got me interested but sadly the happy part ends there.I might really want to ask kamal why the hell did he have to play 10 charecters in a plot that is wafer thin.I mean, barring Rangarajan Nambi and Govind, the rest are just plain pathetic and uncalled for.None of the other charecters are well developed or has any depth.And the Balram naidu charecter was the most irritating one that I found.I mean, what the hell, did kamal expect-the audience will be in splits for all the PJ's that he cracks throughout the movie.Cmon yaar, grow up or just go home!
Dont even get me started on the story or screenplay.The screenplay was so confusing that after a while I just coudnt make out what was going on.The expertise of a director is the way he tells a complex story in a simple way.But anyways, here there is no story itself in the first place.And coming to Asin, she is a good actress but is thoroughly wasted in a role that has more of screaming than performance.And her obsession with the idol, irritates the audience to no limits!!(may be thats what kamal also wanted).
I was shocked when I found respectable web sites prasing the movie to no limits.Rediff, for example which gave only 3 stars for a gem like TZP, was appreciating this movie to the hilt!!
And I also read that tamil actress manorama cried after seeing the film.May be she cried for the producer-he might in all probability have a heart attack.Around 100 crores gone down the drain!!
And with the dubbed hindi version, his reputation as a good actor is going to be tainted very badly.And he might well expect lots of brickbats coming his way!!
In an age where even the hero addicted tamil audience are moving away from crass commercials to meaningful cinema like paruthiveeran and anjathe, I doubt whether dasavatharam will be able to find its mark.Anyways anyone , i mean anyone who appreciates this movie likes ...
