Head to the movie hall expecting for an kamal extravaganza and its difficult to really explain whether dasavatharam really was to the expectations are not.. Times you feel its a movie below par for all that Kamal has done is a weak story line coupled with loads of hard work in technical aspects and make overs which drags the movie above  the thin line which would have classified it an average movie otherwise.

Its a dream for fans of the master actor to see him potray ten different roles in a single movie and many who havent seen the movie still wonder  and ask how he manages a screenplay , to bring all the ten characters together in a single story or is it ten different small stories of ten different avatars of kamal.

Music by Himesh is just outstanding when you see it on screen well picturised and the first song is the best of the lot which takes you to an era of 12century BC and kamal is class apart . Ravi varman has done a good job as a cinematographer as well.

Ten different roles and I really do feel Kamal could have made ten different movies with all those ten different characters . Some of the makeovers and the characters are quite outstanding especially Balram naidu , poovarasan and the avatar singh ones while the rest either reminds you of hard masks and looks totally out of context with fellow actors and there make overs. I sincerely appreciate the efforts and guts of the master craftsment still I do feel the make overs is a serious let down and sounds too hard for an average viewer to digest entirely and make you wonder whether the effort was worth the hardships. I heard one ardent fan of Kamal saying its a mega budget commercial masala and I am forced to agree with that .

Story is a serious  let down  and missed logic at times which apparantly has been a trend even with the best in the business like Kamal , yet  when you expect kamals brilliance to dominate the sceen it seriously is not an issue to be worth bothered about .

First fifteen minutes is rocking yet an average viewer would find it hard to understand what the entire sceen meant and what relevance it had to the balance portion of the movie ..

Asin at times sounds painful with her Perumal statue and dialogues to further slow down the pace of the movie in the

second half. Malikka sharavat paired with fletcher the assassin does

not leave any impact . The only lady actress to leave an impact is

yester actress jayapradha and wow isnt she so gorgeous even in that

small dance sequence .with avtar singh  Couple of other great actors like Nagesh ,

K.R.Vijaya have not enough portions to justify there presence.

Here we have in  the tamil film industry two stalwarts one pronounces God is not there and the other the superstar who pronounces God everytime and still both have been successful in there own rights whether there beliefs have transformed into there movies is a big unanswered question. However the complex thing what Kamal wants to state after a three hour ordeal protecting the virus vial, coming to an end with  the tsunami is to debate  out whether God really exists ! He does declare it himself that the world would been happier if God did really exist and thats the bottom line of the whole story . However he does leave a debate that always provokes a controversy but then wasnt he true with his justification ?

Ravikumar has done a fair job to kamals screenplay however he is not the modern day film director to translate into overall technical brilliance with all the computer graphics and translating it into a masterpiece on screen visually.

Well I personally felt with due regards to veteran director

K.S.Ravikumar I still would have liked the direction handled by the

newer refresher lot of directors like gautam menon or vishnu vardhan to

get it right up there in terms of technical brilliance and freshness . I still feel

let down with Kamals screen play in the second half of the movie as its

a bit of a drag considering the pace at which the movie proceeds in the

first half.. I at times felt a traffic jam of Kamals and it does not really make for comfortable viewing

Overall Dasavatharam is a good effort but I fail to really understand why Kamal is so much for all his experimentation which hardly makes sense as films like devar megan , anbe sivam , mahanadi or Guna for the matter makes  for better viewing and with an artful story and an mastercraftsmen  in Kamal and hoard of other film technicians , Kamal can seriously lift tamil cinema to international scenes single handedly .. Kamal its time you look at aamir khan .. We expect a lot from him but  has it in him to spring a suprise or two soon. Though personally I would say Dasavatharam a serious letdown I still feel people should watch for the efforts expecially the technical make overs as a shrugged old lady to the tall guy the japanese so on and so forth and not to forget the Kamal version of the American president ..
