I Just happen to be bored last night and rented this Ram Gopal Varma movie out last night, a movie about a tale of someone who committed a sin and the sin comes back to haunt him until he doesn’t lose his mind. RGV has done something similar to Bhoot here. The movie run time is over two hours long.

The story goes like this, Aditya [Fardeen Khan] is a normal guy, he has a normal life, and he has a wife [Isha Koppikar] and he has a kid as well. A normal husband with a great job, but one thing is not normal he has a sectary [Esha Deol] who he is having an affair with. He basically lives a lie he tells his sectary that he loves her and is going to leave his wife as they have differences. But the truth is that he has a perfect relationship with his wife and he has no intensions of leaving his wife. Esha Deol one day tells Aditya that she is pregnant. Aditya is shocked by this and then tells Esha Deol the truth that he can not leave his wife and she should get an abortion. Esha Deol flips out and attacks Aditya Widely. Aditya pushes her back and Esha deol smacks her head and dies on the spot. Aditya does not know what to do and berries the body. After all this the ghost of Esha Deol Haunts Aditya making his life a living hell, and people to think of him as crazy and twisted the story gets more interesting as it builds up to the climax.

There are some good points for this type of film, it does scare you and make you jump of your seat a few times, and the story is simple and not very complicated and easy to understand. If you watch the movie half way through you will still understand what the movie is about without guessing what happen before. The camera work is well done and it’s nothing overdone and the film looks good. But where there are good points there are a lot more bad points. The movie fails to keep you glued to the screen, the run time is a little over two hours but it does drag a bit. With a film with only 2 songs in the movie 2 hours does seem like a long time. Why does Aditya jump each time when he sees the ghost even after seeing it for the 10th time don’t you think he would be use to it and stop stuttering after he knows there is a ghost around. Also I never knew that ghost could touch people, yet alone hit them and beat other people up. A lot of un answered questions as to what happen to Aditya friend in the hospital after he left. Did he die, or is he still alive?  The movie starts off slow, then gets your attention after the Killing of Esha Deol, once you finally see the ghost of esha deol it starts going slow pace due to the over acting of Esha Deol and she just begins to anoy you and try to act ruthless but it fails and its just laughable.

Well don’t get me wrong the movie is not bad, but also it is not very good either basically an average product with bad acting, the slow pace of the film does not help as well. Simply put “Darling” is RGV best work this year. This is not a good thing because I can say any film is better then “Agg” but this film is better then “Agg” and I would rather watch this. Simply saying this is RGVs best film this year is infect not a very good thing because one expects a lot better from him.

The climax of the movie is not great and one expects a really juicy ending, we end up seeing a love talk emerging between Esha and Fardeen and the climax just leaves you wondering was that really the best ending?

As for Performances, Fardeen as Aditya does okay, he tries his best but the character seems like a really scared person who makes you not understand why each time he keeps jumping out his seat or wetting his pants when he sees the ghost. It’s understandable if he does it after he has seen the ghost 2-3 times but it starts getting boring when he does it all the time when she appears only till the end at the climax scene in the hospital he doesn’t seem scared no more and acts like a man and doesn’t get pushed around by a girl. Esha Deol as the ghost in one word “Annoying” she tries hard to act like a hard woman seeking revenge but it ends up being laughable and plain annoying with a lot of overacting. Isha Koppikar is okay she doesn’t have to do much still I wonder why the hell the character took a drastic change at the end and acted like a total idiot when she was so sweet before. She ended up not believing her husband when she was begging him for the truth and when he does tell the truth she does not believe him, I was pretty shocked.

The music is not great only one song which I liked and that was Tadap Tadap

Overall an average product it is not a must watch a film that wont hurt if you watch it for general time pass. But also not one of those must watch movies, to me an okay story line with bad acting and it did drag a little bit. I will rate this movie(**) Two stars. If the acting was better it would have gotten a solid 3 stars! But as the story was just okay and the performance was not great it will go down as a two stars. If you want a spooky night and just a little bit of a scare then maybe you should get this, for me simply AVERAGE!
