Last winter, I joined my college IV for a trip to Darjeeling-Peeling -Gangtok. It was a 11 day trip for around Rs. 8000/-. I came in at 6 in the morning at CST station, all excited for a trip of a lifetime. We had to stay in train for 2 days overnight and finally we reached Howrah.

We were scheduled for lunch. We had a train to catch in the evening. We had a short visit to the famous Howrah Bridge and also ate Kolkata famous Rasgulla. We boarded a train to Siliguri Station and bus took us to our Five star hotel.

Well entered Darjeeling, everyone got ready for some chills, away from the hot Mumbai. We were advised to wear thick coats and not allowed to go out anywhere after 7 in the evening. There people looked all chubby red cheeked with small eyes. Kids native there were cute as hell. Food was awesome and even Domino’s pizza was available 30 mins or free on a hillstation. People there spoke Nepali and half Hindi. We visited Tiger Hill at 3 AM in the morning for Sunrise. It was -10 degrees and with everyone freezing hardly could speak up. We ate hot soupy ‘Maggi’ on our way back to hotel. We visited Batasia loop and a Buddist Monastry. It is believed that there is a huge bell, which each person has to swing round till it strikes a small bell adjacent to it, this magnifies your will power and brings divine faith. Not to forget the ‘toy train’ railway which ferries people to and fro.

After a couple of days, we left for Peeling for a day. Peeling was shockingly cold and we couldn’t even think of stepping out of room. We somehow managed to buy some alcohol and beer to keep warm. Peeling does not have medical shops or restaurants and is quiet isolated. Many regretted this place but as films say ‘ Picture abhi baki he ‘.

We headed to Gangtok city, much to our surprise it was hot there. We stayed in Ganga lodge, 3 in each room. We were given a free lancing day to explore. Finally we found some ice here to play.

We visited Hanuman Tok and never can you forget Tsomgo lake with crystal clear water and we did click some pictures there. We also roamed about Himalayan Zoological Park. The animals were well  kept and feed on time. You can get your favourite keychain or a toy from the famous M.G. Road in Gangtok.  Also cable car will be a different feeling altogether, driving over cliffs and valleys and you can click your favourite selfies. Just like horse ridding, Yaks are a time pass. Dont forget river rafting if the weather favours you.

After this we returned home with memories and of course our star studded selfies.

Do go out with friends and family.
