My family(me, wife and our princess) decided to try Dara’s Dhabha on valentine day. Couple of my friends had given very good feedback about food and since we had almost explored all the dhaba’s or open restaurants around Dahisar and Ahmedabad highway we decided to try this.
Located almost at threshold of the city limits, they have good seating capacity in open as well as air conditioned section. If you are coming from western express highway, don’t take flyover after toll as this dhaba is located exactly next to where the bridge drops.
We reached little early in the evening so parking was not a problem, however while going back we could see lot of cars park outside the dhaba . We chose area which was not near to the flyover(lot of noise of vehicles). Manji(charpai’s) and table set up was very comfortable and place was decorated with valentine balloons. Ample distance between tables and clean area and courteous staff except one. Will come to that later.
We ordered tomato soup, masala papad and Chicken reshmi kababs. All 3 items were tasty, kababs were best(though quantity was less). Vegetarian vegetable and other main course items were also good. Overall decent food with slightly higher price tag. Waiter who was serving was very polite and helpful. All other things were fine however we found behavior of supervisor for that location not at all customer friendly. My daughter is 3 years and she wanted to grab one of the valentine balloons, I requested supervisor for a balloon and to my surprise he said NO in a very cold manner, he said if they give balloon to one kid they will have to oblige all kids.
An INR 10 or 5 balloon is more important than a customer? This thing happened in the beginning when I had placed order; I can bet that if this would have happened with any of my Punjabi blooded relatives they would have created a ruckus and left the place. For a second I also thought about that, then I controlled my Punjabi jeans telling myself he is just following rules, let’s try to adjust and I also wanted to taste the food for once as I was sure I would never visit them again.
It is very surprising that a brand like them don’t understand what clients expect from them. Guests wants ease, they want to relax, enjoy and eat. I have been to so many restaurants and at some places I have seen a waiter only managing kids of guests(Kids won’t sit on table with a leg piece; they would like to play and enjoy). This was completely different from market standards. There is this place Mad about Donuts they will happily give you a balloon even if you have not purchased anything from their outlet; if one is coming to place like Dara; minimum 1000 bucks are going to be spent. And against that cost of balloon is INR 5 OR 10?
