Hello People,

I have been fascinated by Goa for quite some time and had always wanted to go there. My dream came true when my hubby and I were backpacked to Goa for our honeymoon.

We had hired a bike to go sight seeing.. and thats the best way to move around the place. City taxis and rickshaws are easy to find .. but are extreeemly expensive to travel. A simple ride (less than a kilometer) is charged no less than Rs 40 and a taxi can cost you anything above Rs 200. Those guys can actually rip you apart.

Among the several places that we went to; I thought Anjuna Beach rocked. We happened to go there on a Wednesday when they had a Flea Market. The crowd was teriffic. Thats one place where you can get almost everything.

I picked up a hookah from one of the stalls. We had been hookah hunting from the time we landed in Goa and the price ranged from 250-1000 depending on the pattern and the size. At Anjuna the hookah on which I laid my eyes was so beautiful that I really wanted it real bad .. the guy said it cost Rs 500; I looked at him straight in the eye and said ''100 mei de do'' ...and lo ... without even batting his eye he gave it. He must have thought I was a junkie too !! Trust me ... the day I quit my job; I'll pack my bags to Goa and start a stall myself :-D

What enchanted me the most about this place was a restaurant by the beach that had a stage erected on the beach .. and there was this terrific live rock band that was playing for its audiences. I just didn't want to go back.

The beach has a little portion that was rocky .. and it had loads of crabs... eeks :-D

I loved everything about this place. God !! I wish I win this contest again .. I'd love to get there again. Its not that I can't afford a trip there .. but a free trip is anytime more fun .. ain't it ?

The easiest way to get there is to rent a bike .. take a road map and get set go .. however ...Buses from Mapusa and Panjim drop passengers at various points along the Tarmac Road across the top of the village, which turns right towards Chapora at the Main Starco's crossroads. The Starco's crossroads has a couple of small stores, a motorcycle taxi rank, and functions as a de facto village square and bus stand.

You really dont have to wait to win a free trip.. trust me .. its worth going to a place like Goa no matter what it takes !!
