I had written a revie but some technical snag did not allow it to be loaded. I hope to maintain the spirit of my experience at the place.
Anyway here I go again. The choice was mine -- my colleague did not seem too amused since she is from South.
We began with the Rasam with papad -- spicy but very delectable. For the main course, we were recommended Aviyal, a mix vegetable prep. in coconut gravy and Steam Rice. Aviyal came out to be extremely bland -- a sharp contrast to the Rasam. But the accompanying tomato chutney makes it a good combination.
For the desserts, my colleague went for Basundi and I followed her. Pretty Good!
The ambience at the restaurant is soothing -- large rectangular paintings of festival of south ornate the walls. Even though the place is not very large in size, yet I found good space to allow for privacy. The service crew is especially helpful and recommeding the dishes. A word here on the cleanliness on the table -- needs improvement. Even a 1% drawback at such places makes a difference.
And let me put a word about the Katatiya Sheraton, the hotel where Dakshin. It is a pretty old property, but the looks are so stunning as if it was done very recently. I was especially impressed by the beautiful marble work in the lobby area. Full marks to the designer and the maintanence people.
Dakshin is an expensive place -- we spend Rs. 700 plus on a three course veg meal.
But all in all, a definite yes to Dakshin.
