Up from the Dead!. Review on Daewoo Matiz

Pardon Me...but do u remember a tiny, cute, hatchback of a car called the ''MATIZ'' ?

If u do, will u pardon me again if I write a small review for it?

Why? because...

I LOVE THAT CAR!!

Yes, I simply love it. It's amazing and that is why I want it to rise from the ashes like the way the WWF wrestlers do!

My review is going to be a short one because the official description up there says it all!

Everything about the car is amazing...the pickup...um..well...not so great but other things, the styling, the shape, the FUEL EFFICIENCY (isn't that the most important).....all amazingly good. Matiz worldwide has won many awards ranging from the CAR OF THE YEAR for it's looks (they kinda grow on you) to the MOST FUEL EFFICIENT CAR. The Aircon is just perfect. Even while driving on Delhi roads in the hottest of summers, you might have to switch it off sometimes.

Now we all know that Daewoo Motors is/was going thru a crisis worldwide and is on the verge of bankruptcy. Last heard, General Motors almost finalized a deal to buy Daewoo worldwide.

It is sad to see that because of all these adverse reports in the Media, Daewoo Motors India Limited, which is separate from it's parent company in Korea, suffer so much in sales and trust. Most of Daewoo dealers in Delhi have converted their dealership to some other car.

Matiz is really a very good car, it's got nothing lacking in it. People who have bought this car swear by it.

MY EXPERIENCE

I purchased a silver color Matiz SG S.P.I.C.E model in October 2000. Till date it has done only 15,000 kms. and the car is in impeccable condition. (No, this is not a 'For Sale' Ad!) So far, in the last one and half years, I have had no trouble at all. Every day, I drive from one end of the town to the other and even on Delhi roads, it doesn't feel tiring at all. The power steering is a breeze.

I get an inter-city mileage (with A/C running all the time) of a healthy 13 kmpl. That's very good. Without A/C it is about 14.5/15 kmpl. The car is shaped in such a manner that it can squeeze thru tiniest of spaces and inside the rear seating is not cramped. 5 adults can fit in neatly in the car.

The only bad experience that I have had so far and am still facing is the fact that spare parts are becoming harder to find. My driver side seat belt is broken and all efforts to get it replaced (as the car is still under warranty) have proved futile. Not because the dealers (or what ever is left of them) don't want to do it, but because it is always not available.

I hope Daewoo officials will take note of that.

Of all the products/items that I have reviewed on mouthshut, I feel most strongly about this cutie-car...THE MATIZ.
