My Cute Little Yellow Ferrari!!!!!!!. Review on Daewoo Matiz

I own a golden yellow fully loaded matiz.Though I was a little apprehensive about buying a yellow coloured car, but now I truly feel that it was worth going 4 this colour coz it makes my car look unique.I don even remember the last time I saw a yellow coloured matiz in mumbai.I think so I have spoken enough about the colour of my car, lets come straight 2 the point.I bought this car in 1999 coz I thought that it made more sense 2 go for a car that provided more space, good mileage and of course great looks as compared 2 its competitors.

First lemme inform u some of the facts about this car.

1. When it was launched it got' The Best Small Car Award' and' The Most Beautiful Car Award '.Personally I think that till today no other car has matched its styling.Its said that the new Zen somewhat resembles 2 matiz.but dude the shape of the new zen really sucks!

   
   




2. It was launched with a tagline that said its a 'big small car".The car truly lives upto its tagline.Small from outside and big from inside.Lemme also tell u that the legroom provided on both the front seats is same as the legroom provided in esteem!

   
   




3. As far as safety goes, it was the only small car to pass the stringent  head on collision crash test.It scored 3/5, which is a mandatory score for all small cars in india.Though its pretty surprising coz in the looks department, it gives us an impression of  feeble and a delicate car.Perfect example of how looks can be deceptive.Its competitor Santro scored 2/5.Its very sad 2 know that in india safety is not given that much of importance.

   
   




4. The A.C in this car is of top notch quality among its class.Its said that the performance of this car dies down coz the A.C is very powerfull.I don agree with this.After all how much can u expect from an 800 cc engine!

   
   




5. The gears that are provided in this car are the cable ones.The only small car in its segment 2 have such kind of gear system.This sort of gear system is usually seen in sedans.

   
   

It has an 800 cc engine that pumps out 51 HP, as compared 2 the current Alto that punches out 47 hp.It would still beat the current Alto on a straight run and I have done that.My car has clocked 30, 000 kms in 8 years.

The car is perfectly stable at high speeds.I remember driving my car at a maximum speed of about 135 on the mumbai pune expressway.However I would suggest you'll 2 stick 2 the 120-125 speed mark.Recently I went 2 nasik and I still managed to cruise effortlessly to 120 mark, overtaking the Santros, Altos, Wagon R's.Oh, I jst forgot 2 mention the word mileage over here, it gave me 17 km/lt with the A.C on and off.Pretty good for an eight year old car!.Although its an occassional highway car but still this little baby outperforms the Alto's, Santro's n wagon R's.This is what I have observed, with a sport sticker at theback and on the side in bold fonts coupled with  yellow colour and roof rails, it somehow gives the look of a customized small sport car.So the person behind me will think twice before overtaking me(Personally I don like 2 b overtaken by someone, it jst unleashes the beast within me).Till 2day I havent really understood the concept of giving roof rails in a small car.However this is the only car which looks neat with a roof rail.Although I have seen roof rails on Santros's and Indica's .but somehow they dont compliment the cars look, infact these cars look shabby with roof rails.Though, i'm not very keen 2 drive it with the A.C switched on(highways).coz u require power 4 overtakingand I strongly feel that the car lacks some power when driven on highways.Thats the reason why i've termed it as an occassional highway car.However the drive of my car is still as smooth as butter and thats what I love about my car the most.

There are only 2 downsides of this car.

1. The cars performance really dies down when u switch on the A.C.This is really a problem when u r waiting for the green light on the signal.The cars behind keep on honking while u struggle to get pick up from ur car.Switch off the A.C at that time and ur car jst takes off.However this isnt a problem at high speeds(above 60).

   
   




2. The gears are very wierd, they arent smooth at all.you jst cannot put the car into lower gear from higher gear, until the car slows down to the specified speed of the gear(this mostly happens when shifting from 3rd to 2nd gear).This is really annoying if u want a sudden surge in power.I guess all matiz's have this problem.

   
   

Reason y people don wanna go for a second hand matiz.

1.The parts and services.I don think that parts is really  a problem in metros.As far as service goes, service ur car twice in a year and the car will reward u by not giving ne trouble.I follow this mantra and till 2day the car hasnt given me a single problem.

My dad often tells me that its high time that we change this car, but I am a bit reluctant in selling this car.Although there are lotz of my friends who are eyeing my car coz of the condition of my car.Even the garage wala has told me that he hasnt seen a good condition matiz like mine.He wants 2 be the 1st person to be contacted when I eventually decide to sell my car.This car is really running well, its serving our purpose, its comfortable and spacious, it returns decent mileage and mileage has become a concern these days coz of the skyrocketing fuel prices, power is jst optimum to drive in city, what else u want from a car.

I jst hope that chevy introduces some kind of exchange 4 the existing matiz owners.I have checked out the soon 2 be launched spark on the net.The shape is not as exciting as matiz.Heard that its gonna b launched in april.I'm sure its gonna give good competition 2 the ugly looking santro, new zen and wagon R.
