Review on DVD Home Theatre Systems.
Sep 09, 2007 01:03 PM 7329 Views

I went thru the review  related to tips while buying a DVD home theatre system. I felt the tips to be useful. These tips are useful, while buying a customized DVD hometheatre system, which is manufactured as per customer requirements. It will result into high cost, while buying a customized DVD HTS. DTS is an advanced feature of dolby digital and dolby prologic. Majority of the DVDs available (except the pirated ones) have DTS recording.

The HTS should have the DTS function switch to activate the DTS sound recorded in the DVD . Now, one important factor to check out here is that there should not be loss of bass while playing an mp3 disk. Philips and Sony have come out with models which can give the customer tremendous bass when playing an mp3 (this is an important factor. The same system will play the DVD with a totally different sound amplification. This means that as a DVD HTS, the system is doing its duty which it is supposed to do, but at the same time to keep my words simple and easy to understand, it can play an MP3 without lossing bass effect , DTS plays an imp role while playing an mp3 or an audio cd. As many customers in India will use the HTS to play their MP3 and ACD, very rarely will they play the DVD . Its very important to check out the sound quality in an HTS by first playing an MP3 and ACD. Its in this test that 50 percent HTS fails. You can check out with Philips, a new model of Sony which has just come into the into the market and Godrej. Godrej HTS has a built in amplifier. This HTS offers very good sound quality.

Its important to phase the 5.1 channel system in the following maner. Two front channels and two back  surround channels should be placed within ear level resp. (This is very imp, else you will loose sound frequencies when you arrange it above ear levels such as wall corners) the centre midrange speaker which appears slightly bigger with two speakers integrated should be placed at the centre within ear level, lastly the sub-woofer should be placed slightly above ground level and not fully on the ground. You can elevate it by a few inches. This is the perfect setting of an HTS.

Please let me now after reading this review, whether any additional explanation is reqd.

Thanking you,
