Avoid this courier service like plague!. Review on DTDC Courier

Day before yesterday, I had gone out and this courier person from DTDC Vikhroli, Hariyali Village, called me up. He informed me that he was trying my number, but that I hadn't picked up his call and that he tried to deliver a package (consignment number Z54166554 from Delhi, which I required in order to prepare for my exams and had specially ordered it from the Internet) while I was out in the evening. I was not told by the party from whom I ordered the package that they had sent it through DTDC. The courier person never even introduced himself properly or told me which courier service he was from or what my consignment number is, on the phone. I asked him to come to our house at Vikhroli East before 4 p.m. the next day.

Initially, he told me he would be able to deliver it only in the evening, but later promised me that he would come by 12:30 p.m. However, the next day, he never turned up despite reminding him by phone to deliver the package by at least 1:00 p.m. He kept me waiting till 2:00 p.m. and I had to go out at around 3:00 p.m., since I had to urgently attend a seminar.

Then, I finally decided to place a complaint on their website, only after which 3 rude calls came from their office. One Ms. Shyamali told me that the courier person had regular packages to deliver and that he cannot attend to us. She also told me she had the wrong flat number on the package ("34" instead of "33"). I asked her whether to come to our house in Vikhroli East, which is very near the courier office, would take a flight. She responded rudely saying that she can't do anything about it. I then informed her that the courier person from DTDC was the one that had called me the previous evening and promised me that he would deliver the package the next day by 12:30 p.m. I told her that, if you people can't deliver a simple package on time or give people proper service, then you better shut down the courier service. She immediately cut the call, as she could not reply back. Moreover, I got a call from a Mr. Ranjeet of their Ghatkopar branch. He kept promising me that the courier guy has left and kept requesting me to wait. It was already 3:40 p.m. and I was getting late.

So, I left and the courier guy turns up after that. Mr. Ranjeet also kept pleading me to reverse the 3 complaints I had sent through their website, which I do not plan to, due to their misbehaviour. Then, the courier person called me up and asked me whether he can leave the packet with our security guard at Godrej Towers. I replied in the negative, since no practical security guard would sign the package on our behalf. I told him that I would personally come and collect the package, which I did the next day. I am extremely annoyed with the DTDC courier service due to their rude replies, their slow package deliveries and the worst of all, due to their carelessness with regards to writing down our flat number. Even as I went to their office, I noticed that they couldn't even spell my name or address properly.

Our entire day was wasted waiting for the courier person to turn up and we couldn't go out to even fulfill tasks according to my daily checklist. Never take any services from DTDC now or in the future or even if it is the last resort. Even the EMS Speed Post is much better. Also, personally request the parties from whom you are expecting a package or an order to arrive to not use DTDC courier services.
