I had handed over a cover containing important documents for couriering to my lawyers in Philadelphia, USA on 28th October 2016(Friday) at 2around 2 pm to DTDC Express Ltd. at 72, MMGS Marg, Dadar(East), Mumbai 400014. I had inquired from them about likely date of delivery and the person manning the office said that the shipment should reach by Monday(31st October 2016). Charges appeared to be reasonable at Rs 1080 but I was somewhat apprehensive since these were time critical documents but the staff assured that their service is on par with other couriers like DHL and they would have delivered next day but for intervening week-end.
Since then, I have been checking the tracking service of DTDC(https://dtdc.com/) everyday about the progress of the shipment. To my surprise, I found that till 31st October, the shipment did not leave India. And since then, the tracking shows that from 1st Nov. 2016 12 am, the shipment is in USA on transit to destination. As I write on 3rd Nov. 2016, there is still no update in the tracking and the shipment has still not been delivered. I have sent two e mails and made several phone calls and still have no information about when delivery will take place. There has been no response to my e mail except for an automated response stating that the shipment is still not into their system and I should check later(although it appears in their tracking website!). Telephone calls have not been of any use.
If you are looking to ship important parcels/documents internationally, please avoid DTDC and stick to well known international couriers like DHL, Bluedart and UPS or even India Post's Speed Post but not some one like DTDC who provide pathetic service, no feedback and may even lose your shipment! Better to spend a little more and have peace of mind.
