What is DHL?
DHL is not a regular passenger airline. They send shipments i.e. goods, documents, letters etc to foreign countries. They do not operate domestic services in India. I think they operate domestically in USA. It is meant for export and import trade.
I have had very bad experiences with DHL. I will explain them in detail.
PRICES
Their prices are the highest compared to any other courier services (FedEx, UPS, etc)
If for a 500 grams packet other courier services will charge Rs. 1000, they will charge you Rs. 1500.
TIME
If they tell you your shipment will reach its destination in three days means it will reach in 15 days i.e. 5 times more. This is because they send the shipment to 10 different places before its final destination. I wanted to send some documents to my uncle in Caracas (Venezuela) from Mumbai. The documents were first sent to London, then Paris, then Brussels, then Amsterdam and finally Caracas. I don?t know why did they do this when there are direct flights from London to Caracas.
STAFF / CUSTOMER SERVICE
The staff is lazy and never helpful. If you ask about your shipment you never get a proper reply. They give you the wrong rates. They are not aware about anything, whenever you call them they tell you THEY WILL CALL YOU BACK. But they never do so. They put you on hold for atleast 5 minutes before you talk to them. Their toll free number never works so you have to call on their normal phones.
WEBSITE
They have their website https://dhl.co.in
The good thing about the website is you can track your shipment.
No information is given about rates and the duration for your shipment to reach its destination. All irrelevant information is been provided.
SERVICE
The shipments reach the destination in very bad condition and I have heard they are even lost in transit. I find the Indian Postal Services better than DHL.
