The whole idea of engineering drawing keep on revolving arounfd 3 fields.
One is CAD=computer aided drawing
Second is CAM=computer aided manufacturing
Third is CAE=computer aided engineering.
DAuto cover CAD part in good way compare to CAM and CAE. But for rookie they are nice place to run some basic essentials.CAD is wide field and many things comes under it. In CAD rainbow various important sofware right from Autocad, ProE, Catia, Solidworks, Unigraphics to multi dimesnsional geometry and their assembly versions.
Reading drawing is essential part to draw it properly on software. I think this is the frontier where DAuto should need to improve and focus more. One can know how to run the software and basic features, but what to draw is more important compare to how to draw.
The first angle projection method and third angle projection method should clearly taught to student to differentiate the thing and one can start by making some basic shapes. I think they need to change their syllabus order and start to scratch some surface before throwing student into street of software.
On the whole, I appreciate their effort but lot more to go and prove.
