When word was out that RGV was making yet another gangster flick comparisons to Company began almost immediately. Sure Deshu, the protagonist of D, wears the Ray Ban glasses, smokes non stop and has the no nonsense attitude of Malik and sure Hasimbhai also has some problems with his back but the similarities end right there.

Company was a movie on the relationship between two men. But D is about one ordinary man who becomes the kingpin of the underworld. Not only with his gun but also his astute planning.

Deshu is not a good guy who turned bad because of his situation. He is a level headed man who took the choice to become who he wanted to be. Treat him well and he will be your most faithful employee. Hurt him intentionally and hell hath no fury.

Cast

To say that Randeep Hooda is the backbone of the movie would be an understatement. For a character whose dialogues can be written in a piece of paper Hooda uses his body language and expressions to convey what mere words cannot. Whether it is the sick pleasure on his face when he talks about his 'private entertainment' or the slight smile on his face when he talks to his girlfriend, Bhakti or

the look of controlled anger when he talks to Shabbir, Hooda scores a perfect 10.

Chunkey Pandey, Rushhkar, Goga Kapoor make memorable comebacks but were let down by their underdeveloped characters. Isha Kopikar has been wasted in this movie but makes an impact in the scene where she dies.

The film is very fast and there is not a single dull moment. It doesnt preach you nor does it glamorize the underworld. It is an episode in the life of Deshu. Nothing more nothing less. You go the theatre with expectations and you return with satisfaction.
