On 1st October 2016, I had a bad experience with my purchase at D'mart- located at Kothari Compound, Thane. The cashier wrongly manually keyed the rate of sugar as Rs 639.00 instead of the correct amount of Rs 39.00. I was wrongly billed an amount of 16 times more than actual. The staff at the refund counter, were prompt in refunding my excess amount. But I was more concerned what corrective actions were taken to prevent similar situations.
I wrote to D'mart people and I was contacted by a Manager from the said D'mart. He profusely apologized for the mistake and assured me that corrective steps would be initiated. When I insisted on getting his reply through a written format, he agreed to do so. But after waiting for more than one week, when I did not get a reply, I tried to contact the said D'mart branch, but could not get connected to the Manager. I was replied by a lady supervisor named Anu. She assured me that the Manager would contact me on phone and would also give a written reply. I am still awaiting!
So my cautionary note to all customers- when a cashier enters the bar code details manually, take the added precaution of rechecking the billed amount.
