SECOND TIME EXPERIENCE, review AT DMART MULUND

SHOPPING FOR GROCERIES ON Sunday, Sept 14th, 2008 at 11 a.m.

*GOOD FRIENDLY STAFF AT BIG BAZAAR MULUND,

HORRORS- RUDE ARROGANT BEHAVIOUR OF STAFF FOR THE SECOND TIME AT DMART, MULUND- A PUT OFF, A DETERRANT TO SHOPPING.

D MART STAFF SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH THOSE WHO ARE CUSTOMER FRIENDLY, THE FIRST AND LAST  RULE IN MARKETING/ EMPLOYMENT.

I did not realize how customer friendly  Big Bazaar Mulund  was, until I realized and experienced how bad it was at  DMART, Mulund

This Sunday, despite having a bad experience at DMART earlier, we visited DMART MULUND and  Big Bazaar  MULUND, Big Bazaar outscored on many fronts, it has to improve itself on better quality of loose items it sells though. But DMART has to change the attitude of its staff which is more difficult.

The behaviour of the security at DMART was rude, even though parking space near the entry was existing, they made us park further away. Last time, my husband had carried a wallet /purse without sealing it, I had sealed my purse though which greatly inconvinienced me. This time, I went in with my purse sealed, after sometime they stopped my husband and asked him to seal his wallet. I can't tell you the horror of the whole thing. We stopped our purchases right there, even though we had picked up many of our groceries,  the manager himself was quite rude.

My husband heads his dept with a private sector bank, this bad experience from a 20-something know-it-all manager from DMART had put him off, he was shaken. I am now amazed as to how the company with such friendly people in the US, manages to find such arrogant and rude people to man its stores at MULUND, they are surely downgrading the value of the BRAND DMART.I HAVE VISITED DMART SEVERAL TIMES IN SEVERAL STATES IN THE US AND NONE OF THEM SMACK OF THE RUDE ARROGANT, IMPOLITE BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS CUSTOMERS THAT DMART MANAGEMENT /STAFF OF THIS INDIAN MULUND BRANCH IS EXHIBHITING, A HYPERMART IS A NEW EXPERIENCE HERE AND THEY ARE UNWITTINGLY PUTTING UP WITH SUCH BAD BEHAVIOUR.

We then went to Big Bazaar, Mulund we got an excellent parking place on the first floor itself, almost unknowingly the security at the gate greeted us in a friendly, and we started shopping. Unknowingly, we evaluated BIG BAZAAR in a new way, as to how homely we felt here, how security was friendly, the security sealed the wallet of my husband by affixing a sticker, and we found almost all our needs at comparable rates and prices and minus the rude behaviour. BIG Bazaar needs to clean up its rice varieties that are avaliable in loose variety, here we encountered some problems, but including the billing process went off very smoothely.kudos to the BIG BAZAAR

FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE IN DMART MULUND IN  INDIA( IN THE US D MART SHOPPING WAS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE, IN INDIA IT IS NOT SO) Review  on DMART Mulund 11.30 to 2.30 pm 3rd Aug08

This morning I read the newspaper advt in TOI by DMart Mulund. It took us 30 minutes to get there. Parking was a problem, and we managed to get one luckily on the ground floor but away from the entrance.

BAD GREETINGS

This was my first experience with DMART in India. In th US, I was a member at  SAMS and DMARTs, Shoprites, etc.I had a hand bag(ladies black bag, which had only one purse in it).As soon as I went in, the security(lady) informed me that she was putting my bag inside a DMART green clothed bag and sealing it). Then I realized that the product list of things that I  needed to buy and the advt(newspaper TOI portion) on which I had put tick marks against products I wanted to buy and crosses against those I did not want was sealed inside the bag. Luckily enough, she removed the seal and let me take the list out, but did not permit me to take the advt portion inside. I had to argue with the security guard( a male nearby) and finally I managed to get in. 5 minutes of wasted time and  a rather bad mood to begin shopping, all about carrying a portion of newspaper, that too of the DMart  advt. I was just mentally comparing the staff and facilities during my rather long stay in the US.  I dont know whether it is because Indian staff is never customer friendly or something to do with this particular DMART. Instead of a cheerful HI, How are you? to put the customer in a friendly mode, this is the greeting. I could start some customer friendly workshops for some of the malls here in India.

CROWDED PLACE, STAFF AND SECURITY UNFRIENDLY, NOT FAMILIAR WITH WHAT CAN BE TAKEN IN, WRONG SYSTEM OF ASKING CASH IN THE MIDDLE INSTEAD OF BILLING ALL  ITEMS AND ASKING FOR CASH AT THE END

The place was crowded, people jostling in, crashing into the trolley, since I was unfamiliar with the place, it took some time getting used to what was were, we finally managed to get most of the stuff, and more than what I had put in the list. I had missed buying veggies and fruits, so went back to pick some and noticed that Rakhi stall was there, picked up three Rakhis for 45 bucks, I was asked to pay money. Now the green bag which was sealed was with my hubby whom I had left at the billing counter, as  I went to get some money , he handed me a 500 rupee note, and I had to fight with Rakhi sales people to get some change at the rakhee counter, I cant understand why they cant bill at the rakhee counter and one can pay a common bill at the biling counter, why we have to pay separately in the middle especially when our purses are sealed by DMART.

STAFF UNFAMILIAR WITH RULES

On the Priya picke offer( 1free for 2 bought) the staff lady wanted us to buy the same pickle three times, this was a stupid idea, what would we do with 3 achaars of the same mango, or ginger, or lime. Finally after we explained the stupidity behind her reasoning she relented and let us choose a variety of three.

PARKING

Finally as my hubby picked Darbelee, and some  pizzas outside and was busy eating, I had to wheel the trolley to the car, it was quite a bit distance and all  through the slosh(it had rained) which left me feeling totally irritated. A totally unpleasant shopping experience, I prefer the Big Bazaar for quarterly needs, even Subiksha is better for weekly needs.

FOR A LL THE PLACE/SPACE  IT HAS, AND THE INVESTMENT IT HAS DONE IN PUTTING UP THE PLACE, DMART SHOULD MAKE BOTH THE SECURITY AND STAFF CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. RIGHT NOW, THEY ARE NOT.
