For those fans of Anne Rice’s notoriously sensual erotica and for those of you who bask in her obvious love of the supernatural, this book is not typical but oh so superb. This is the story of Antonio who lives in 17th century Italy. This is a story of love and betrayal and above all music and time. If you are not aware of the castrati or what it means to be one, I would recommend you to be wary of this book. The story is superbly written as only Anne Rice can do it, but it is at times intense and graphic in homosexual love. Though the subject matter is deep, and the characters tragic, it is a story that will stay with those who choose to read it forever.
