A 5 year old CG geyser (15L) in my rented apartment started leaking. I raised a service request (complaint no. 1212003139) on Dec 3 2012 for the same. The service request was attended by Sun Rise Enterprises, Hyderabad. The technician who came told us that the tank inside the geyser will need to be replaced and will cost us Rs 1700 (tank cost 1400 + 300 service charges). I agreed to pay the said amount and asked him to go ahead with the replacement.


He, however, demanded an advance amount of 50% of the tank cost, reasoning that it will need to ordered specially for me. I agreed, and paid him Rs 700/- He gave me an informal written receipt of the same on the back side of a visiting card of Sun Rise Enterprises.  He told me he will come back the next Sunday with the tank. On Sunday evening, when I called up Sun Rise enterprises and asked for the status, the person who had picked up the phone mockingly told me how could I expect anyone to come on a Sunday.


From Monday onward I had to follow up with them continuously for 1 month before the technician finally came in with the tank. After struggling for about 3 hours to fit it in, he gave up. He told me that they will not be able to replace the tank, they had hoped that a tank meant for some other model would fit in, but it didnt. I talked to the the concerned person Mr. Govardhan on the following phone no. +917416273563. He agreed to refund the 700/- advance and asked me send him my bank a/c number. I did the same via SMS. Since then I kept following with him for almost 3-4 months but he always kept saying 'tomorrow I will transfer'.


After that he has stopped picking up my phone. I have tried reaching him on all the phone numbers that I have but unable to do so. I also contacted the regional sales manager of CG (contact details given by CG customer care, one Mr Tirupati Swami phone: +917799923423). He told me he'll talk to Sunrise enterprises owner and make sure I get my refund. But that hasn't happened and his phone is also unreachable now.


I have given up on the amount now. The amount of time I'm spending to write this review is also worth more than the amount concerned. The only reason for sending this email to tell the world how the CG brand has deteriorated. A brand I have admired from childhood since my father always told me that  CG makes the best fans and motors, millions of which he got installed at numerous government buildings in Rajasthan (he worked for the public works department, govt of Rajasthan).


BTW my landlord replaced that old geyser with a new CG geyser and I now shudder at thought of getting it serviced, if it goes bad anytime (God forbid)!
