5 of the most exciting one day matches . Review on Cricket

Cricket is a religion in india & half of the population in india is cricket frenzy.With so many matches being played around globally it seems like a overdose but in india its always welcome.Me too a cricket fanetic & follow all matches being played irrespective of wether india playing or not.Have seen so many matches so far I would like to share 5 of the most exciting one day matches of all time(which I have seen)

1) Natwest final in england(India v/s England) - This was one of the memorable wins for india for many years to come.The indian team coming into the match with a lot of criticism behind since they had faired poorly in all the final games.The britishers batting first had a tremendous start with trescothik in blazing form hammering the indian bowlers.There was no stopping for him as he raced away to a ton with other palyers following suit.England notched a good match winning 326(if m not mistaken) in the end leaving india in worry.Outcame our openers & started of quite well with sehwag & ganguly plundering away.But then the usual collapse in the middle with very liitle hope of winning.But that was not the end of the road,apna young guns(kaif & yuvraj) took over from there & there was no looking back.Truly to chase a total of 325 batting second with a big collapse in the middle on an alien nation is something we indians should look upto & be proud of.A gr8 finish with ganguly doing his famous strip show on the lords balcony to top it up.

2) World Cup Semi final 2000(Australia v/s S.Africa) - This was one match which kept everyone on the edge of their seats though india wasnt playing.I cant recollect the entire match but yes the finale is etched in my memory.I remember the last over with lance klusener batting with donald at the non striker end.S.Africa needed some few runs(i guess 8-12) in the last over with the last pair & the australians were all up & ready for victory,but the zulu man was never gonna give up.He hit sucessive fours of damien fleming in the last few balls tieing the score leaving the australians shocked.But I guess the australians handled the pressure a tad better then the africans with donald makin a mess of the run leaving the africans nowhere.A truly exciting match which is very rare.Kudos australia.

3) Natwest Series 2005(Australia v/s England) - Another tie in the history of cricket with the australians involved again.Australia after a disastrous series with losing to bangladesh in the first match finally made it to the finals.England coming in with some rocking form into the match looked obvious favourites.But then form is temporary,class is permanent.Australians batting first managed to get a reasonable score(dont remember the figure) still not out of that bangladeshi hangover.England had a horrifying start 2with Mcgrath coming into his own,ripping off the top order along with Bret Lee.It looked an easy win for the australians but Gerainth Jones came up with a fighting 70(i remember it:)) to save england.The match ended up in a tie with both the teams sharing the trophy.The australians were completely dissapointed but I guess atleast they were happy bout not loosing the match.All & all another exciting affair.

4) Some Indo Pak series in pakistan(dont remember the year) - This one I cant recollect much but I very well remember & I guess every indian remembers the boundary hit by Kanitkar of the last ball of Saqlain leading india to a win(i guess u must have remembered).Yes what a match Kanitkar became a overnight hero after that match but unfortunately that was the only feather in his cap.But still he will be remebered for that famous win which made india proud especially playing against arch rivals Pakistan in pakistan.Hats off

5) Natwest Series 2005(Australia v/s Bangladesh) - And finally one of the greatest losses in the history of cricket.Bangladesh BEATING world champions australia.It took some time for me to beleive it but yes one of the greatest upsets for a long time to come.who would have ever imagined innows like bangladesh to beat a powerful side like australia..never!!But bangladesh shocked them by putting up a great show with Ashraful & Aftab Ahmed being the stars of the show.the australians looked plain mediocore & jagged.This was truly the BAAP of all victories..way to go bangladesh..
