Its Sunday morning and I can't believe I am writing an article on the World XI. But then cricket and managment have always been my interests.
Lets see, what would the world XI have? the best from all around the world(duh!)
As you can see, I am not quite being able to come-up with the Sheakespearian(I can't even get the spelling right) lines to make a jaw-dropping opening.
Also, since the elections are on, I am in a very democratic mood. Each cricket-playing nation or rather TEST cricket playing nation(sorry SCOTLAND and all you other guys) should have representation.
Thus, I take into consideration INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, SOUTH AFRICA, ENGLAND, WEST INDIES, ZIMBABWE BANGLADESH, and KENYA. Thus from each team, I can choose only one player. I understand this may not be the ultimate world XI, but this is how I do my bit for world unity and peace.:)
So I guess I ought to get over the lame jokes and theories and get straight to business.
SACHIN TENDULKAR
ADAM GILCHRIST(WK)
BRIAN LARA(VC)
GRAHME SMITH(C)
ANDREW FLINTOFF
AMINUL ISLAM
HEATH STREAK
MAURICE ODUMBE
DANIAL VETTORI
SHOIB AKTHAR
MUTIAH MURLIDHARAN
I also would like to mention that the representatives of each country do not necessarily indicate the best player of that country. They are all chosen in order to give a good balance to the team.
I am thinking the top 4 batsmen are sure to do all the scoring. However we bat till No. 9, which is quite decent.
Akthar, Streak, Murli, Vettori could be the main bowlers, and Odumbe, Islam, and Sachin could be the 5th bowler.
I am sure all these guys are top-class fielders, and Gilchrict as the wicket-keeper, don't really need to worry much about the field.
So what do u think? Isnt it a fair, democratic, ultimate, powerful World XI.?
wonder whom would they play with.? MARS XI or VENUS XI.?
Please give my suggestions as to whom I ought to have included or excluded.
