Well, well, well. This is one great idea for a review. So, lets get down to the nitty gritty right away, shall we?
Firstly, the best ODI squad would have to have the best ODI batsmen in the world. This would probably leave Sachin, Lara, Inzamam, Jayasuriya, Gilchrist and Hayden in the top six positions. Number seven would probably be Herschelle Gibbs.
Now for the bowling attack. This team would also include the worlds two best spin bowlers - Muralitharan and Warne, and two fast bowlers. Now, the worlds two best fast bowlers would probably be the subject of most of the controversy stemming from my review. In my opinion McGrath and Vaas would be ideal for the job.
It's important to note that this is only my world XI squad FOR TODAY. Many of the above mentioned players will probably be retiring in a short while so this list will have to be constantly updated on a daily basis. Also, the world XI squad for test maches would be slightly different. Another factor to be kept in mind is teamwork and its importance in the success of a team. The players mentioned above have never played in the same team and would therefore be horrid at calling and running between wickets. Also note that not all of them are great fielders.
