Getting my 8-year-old son to brush his teeth is like pulling nails from a piece of board barehanded! How many of you parents have this same problem? Come on be honest, I know a bunch of you have to! I can’t e the only one!

With my girls they gave me no problems what so ever with brushing their teeth. And today they practice those same good “taking care of teeth” habits that they developed as children.

But with Taylor, well we are in big trouble if this is how he is going to carry on as he gets older! I have tried the flavored toothpaste, which does help a lot! And I have tried the really cool toothbrushes, which are always short lived, but better than nothing. I have threatened his life (just kidding) taken away privileges from him like his Nintendo and Play Station, his TV Time, his Playtime, which also work, because he loves these things and he doesn’t want to not be able to do these things.

I have threatened to make him vacuum the house for an entire month, sweep and clean the bathrooms, fold the clothes for a year, mow the grass with scissors, climb the highest tree in the yard (this one doesn’t work), wash the car and the threat list is endless. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t.

But, and yes there is a but, recently, his father has paid out over 600 bucks for some serious repair work in this boys mouth! And with that has come a very valuable lesson in life. PAIN!!! And how my son don’t care for PAIN at all! But, yes another but, there is still the task of brushing the teeth and getting him to comply. And, mother that I am, creative mother that I am, have come up with a way to help him along! What is this way you ask? Well, I shall share it with you!

The Product

Crest®! Yes Crest®, they have this really, really cool toothbrush called a Spin Brush™ that comes in various designs for the boys and girls of the world! It is battery operated and when children use it they have fun doing so.

This is what my son does. After putting flavored toothpaste on his Spin Brush™ he turns it on and the tip spins round and round and he brushes away! He actually brushes longer, even down onto the gums.

It runs off of AAA batteries and you can use the rechargeable ones with the Spin Brush™. However, be sure that you follow the instructions with the rechargeable batteries.

The head of the brush is replaceable, which is really cool! There is a combination of fixed and moving bristles, which are soft and are patented by Crest®. The moving bristles do allow for a better brush, polish and plaque removal on the teeth. While the fixed bristles allow for scrubbing action.

The noise that is made when my son uses his Spin Brush is this motorized sound, like with one of his cast iron race cars, you know the ones where they have to pull back and let it go, the noise that sound is, well this brush has a similar sound. And my son really gets into it. The sound is not bad at all and of course I am not always in the bathroom with him, but I can hear it and know that he is using it. The design he has is an army type figure, which makes brushing all the more fun. There are many designs for boys and girls. They even have one that looks like a racecar!

There are soft grips on the sides of the handles for easy usage.

The cost is around $6.00 up to $10.00 depending on where you buy it. We got my sons at the Dentist office for $6.00.

Operating

Operating is very easy. My son can do one of two things: 1. He can choose to just hold down the “on” button, found on the top of the handle, or he can 2. Press and slide the “on” button a continual power. This is the one he chooses. He says “It’s fun Mama”! And I say, “Go for it buddy! Brush away!” He is so cute and serious using this his toothbrush and I hope it stays that way.

Like I mentioned above the head is replaceable. You simply twist the head counterclockwise and off it comes from the handle. Check you local stores for the replacement heads. After getting a new one, simply twist clockwise to get back on and your child is set once again.

Replacing the batteries is easy also. At the bottom of the handle you will find a compartment that you simply twist and pull downward, which will allow the battery cover to come off. Replace with AAA Alkaline batteries and put the cover back on. make sure they are alkaline.

How I Feel

Well needless to say I am a happy camper with this gadget! My son is brushing his teeth better and I see future dental bills a lot lower!

The designs of the Spin Brush™ are made for kids and they even make them for adults! The price is not bad at all and it’s encouraging to the children. And that is a good thing.

And life once again in the household is stable and no threats to be made in order to get my son to brush his teeth. At least not yet.

Next time your child is giving you a hard time about brushing their teeth consider getting them the Spin Brush™ by Crest®!

I hope that this has helped in some kind of way!

God Bless!
