Points For Usage - The Real Cheat

The points system on the credit card is given if we use it minimum from rs. 100 and varies with each bank, for each 100 rs. We spend one point will be given and later accumulating towards 250 points the bank will provide gifts to us.

Again some banks will have a co-branded card and gift varies with their partners[like citibank indianoil card where u can get fuel worth for points]. One important thing is if you have a co-branded card you have to accumulate minimum of 500 points to redeem your gift. To get 500 points you have to spend 50000 rs.

The offers which are provided by the bank in petrol bulk like no service charges will not attract value points and this varies according to each bank. Truth is we are paying through card and not getting points as told by the bank earlier and wherever the essential needs we have to pay money like petrol and household items there will be service charge of 2.5%.

If there is a waiver of service charge then you won't get your value points. The real cheat is the point is valid at 1 rupee per point and if you are paying with the service charge whatever you paid extra for service charge is given back [less than what u paid actually] in the form of value points. So the points system is attracting the customer to pay lumpsum purchases and gaining smaller gifts which is actually you are paying and not a gift as told by the bank.

As a credit card holder for six years I think what I'm writing here will be useful to my friends of mouthshut.
