Cream Centre
Location
It is one of the finest pure vegetarian restaurant which has been serving pure vegetarian food for more then 20 years. It is situated 12 feet away from New Yorkers at Sukh Sagar Junction at Chowpatty.
Food – The name Cream Centre (CC) is synonymous with Chhole Bhature…(CB). It is truly a wonderful dish. Chhole is Chana Masala and Bhatura is a puri which is 8 inch in diameter. Chhole Bhature is something that CC has been known all over Mumbai. Other than that, starters comprise of a wide variety of mouthwatering and relishing chaats which are less in quantity. There are different varieties of Chhole like Plain Chana Masala, paneer chhole (chana masala with little cubicles of paneer). Another specialty here is the huge Punjabi Samosa with the superb mint chutney. For Cold Coffee lovers they serve their cold coffee in huge steel glasses. Lebanese, Mexican, Italian and Indian cuisines form a part of the main course. In the Indian cuisine, I personally prefer dal makhani and falafel, which happens to be a fav amongst the Gujju population. Desserts are strictly OK except for the home made ice creams which are absolutely yummy.
Service– The service is decent, the waiters constantly need to be reminded about water refills though.
Ambience-Vibrant, spacious and comfortable, Cream Centre is a huge restaurant. The Non Air-conditioned section is on the lower storey and has a seating capacity of at least 100-120 people. The Air-conditioned section is on an upper storey and has a seating capacity of about 40-50 people. As I said earlier, this place is mostly frequented by Gujaratis and Marwaris from South Bombay. However, there are serpentine queues on weekends, specially Sunday evenings. The waiting time could get as long as 45 min – 1 hour.
Price
A meal of Choley-Bhatura (Or Paratha-Paneer Masala, Cold Coffee and a chaat will cost Rs 150 - Rs 175 Per Head (All taxes inclusive). This place is ideal for families looking forward to having a weekend dinner in South Bombay.
