I recently recieved a call saying that I had filled up some coupon somewhere and won 3 gifts in the draw: kitchen set, one week package to any of the 6 locations(manali, bangalore, kochin, srilanka, and two other I cant remember now), 1 day stay at any of the local club resorts in Hyd. the executive promised that we dont have to pay anything at al. we were asked come to Country Club, begumpet, listen to some 90mins presentation, collect gifts and leave.
When we went there, we were taken into a room full of executives and the draw winners(supposedly) discussing across the tables, scattered around the room. even we were made to sit at a table and an executive started to explain the package which was . if we pay 5, 00, 000 we will be given 2weeks of vacation every year for 30 yrs, with accommodation paid for, at any of the country club hotels across the world. if we pay 3, 00, 000 then its for 10yrs.
We said we are not interested and wanted to take those gifts and leave. the executive said that the pakage coupons have to be prepared online and it will take 90mins to get it done so we can wait till then and collect the gifts. so we waited. after sometime, he talked about CountryClub membership for Rs.36, 000 per couple for lifetime. and then another vacation package for Rs.60, 000 covering lifetime membership+ 2weeks vacation anywhere in Asia and UK. we were tempted and asked him to include USA instead of Asia. Then he called his manager and that guy said he can give us that at Rs.75, 000 but we have to pay cash immediately or have a 0% EMI option from certain banks.
We had an ICICI bank credit card which they did not have a tie-up with so they asked us to pay cash. we told him we can pay only 10k now and will come tomorrow and pay the remaining. They asked for 15k but we refused. meanwhile, this whole thing seemed to sound a little fishy so we told them we wont pay anything and want to think about it, do some research and if we are ok then we will come next day. they did not agree.(luckily!)
When we had to leave with the gifts, the kitchen set turned out to be a cheap tea set and for the one week package, we are supposed to pay 4k. we got irritated, threw all of them on their face and walked out.
After reading reviews here today, I can only thank my stars for getting saved that day from these cheaters.
Someone should report them to the police and put them behind bars. they are cheating people so openly.
