Do read my review on Canara Bank before reading this review
So, after the real hectic process of opening an account in Canara Bank I thought that now that I have an account I'll be able to take a sigh of relief. But that was not to be.
Even after 6 months of opening the account I did not get my debit card which I needed dearly. The kept me waiting for an hour on for three days in 2 weeks to check if my debit card has arrived. On top of that the branch is not air conditioned. I sometimes wonder who the hell gave that branch an ISO certification.
After much ado I decided to open an account in Corporation Bank, Jadavpur branch.

DAY 1

When I went to Corp Bank for the first day I immediately developed a liking for it. The branch was much smaller than Canara bank. In fact it operates in the ground floor of a building. It had only one counter for both depositing and withdrawing money. But the teller was really very efficient. The branch was air conditioned.
I asked the manager if I can open an account with my college address. He said yes and went about describing the process of opening the account.

OPENING THE ACCOUNT

I went to open the account on a saturday. In spite of the late hours and the fact that the working hours were till 11:30 AM only, the officials of the bank opened the account for me considering that I was a student and should receive special attention.
On Monday, I went to the bank again to receive my passbook and cheque book. The very same day the official asked me to fill up the form for Corp Convinience debit card.

ALL ABOUT DEBITS

I received the debit card by courier within 2 weeks. Imagine my surprise at receiving the card. What Canara Bank still haven't been able to provide me with, Corp Bank gave it to me within 2 weeks of opening the account.

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS

In spite of having such a nice experience at Corp Bank I'm still new to the bank. Lets see if it continues with its great service.
But for now I hold the bank in my highest esteem.

A BRIEF COMPARISON
---------------
Lets compare Canara and Corp Bank.
In spite of the small size of Corporation bank it provides a much better service to its customers compared to Canara bank. It has more ATM centres than Canara Bank.
The only thing that goes in favour of Canara Bank is its large customer base, age and the fact that your money is really safe if you keep it in Canara Bank.
Both being Public sector banks, the rates of interests etc. are same.
