Iwas looking forward to Madhur B’s movies ever since Page 3. But I think I would have waited for the VCD but my friend forced me to goalong. Why I would have waited for the VCD? :- 1. com From the promos I thought that this movie was all about the working of thecorporate world. 2. I got mislead by the cast (mainly Bipasa Basu), I was under the impressionthat this movie might even show some ugly side of the females and their climbup the ladder. 3. I though this would be just an observation like Page3. Well I got it wrong; this movie is heavily disguised in the promos. This movie is a borderline documentary. The main theme is the working of thecorporate but it also is a Jab at the pesticide scandal of the soft drinks. After watching the movie I think Madhur made this movie just to educate thepeople about force them to introspect their attitudes and to make them realisesome hard facts. Atul Kulkarni narrations added that extra punch. It was his narration that madeus think about how we have forgotten something so serious. The emotions andcompassion in his voice is overwhelming. The movie is directed "so cleverly". The movie has the "comicrelief" and the "musical relief" at the right times. The timingis so perfect that it never allows you to feel bored for even a second. The humour is excellent and is great I am tempted to tell you a few of thepunch lines but then that would take away the "relief". The humour isnot slapstick comedy but again a jab at reality. The movie is "trying" to tell about the rivalry between the "Marva"group and the "Sehgal" group. But in the process cleverlyexposes how money was the main factor in the pesticide scandal. It even showsthat how the pesticide scandal came into the open. IT was the "Marva"group (in real life the competitor) that bought out the facts just to destroyits competition. It even showed that how NGOs and the "Swadeshi" parties andaction groups are just pawns. IT exposes the close link between corporates and the politicians. My only complaint is this movie might be misleading, well only to the ignorantcrowd, especially those who cannot do the simple 2+2 connection between things. In the movie when the Sehgal’s wife is trying to convince her brother to......(I will keep that suspense) She is trying to justify her actions by saying"what will happen to the thousands of share holders, distributors andpeople working for the company" my friend turned to me and said "seethat is the truth we cannot close down such companies". But what my friendand I am sure many other will fail to notice, is that in the earlier parts ofthe movie, Madhur has shown us how the "Sehgal" industry was actuallyprivately owned, in fact the bulk of share were offered to "Ruyia"their other competitor in return for a lesser bid at the PSU. Then he evenshows how the "share broker" keeps on telling "us" that theshare market can easily be turned any way. At the end of the movie the Sehgalcompany was still privately owned as "Marva" had bought up all the sharesin the market,(leaving only a small % in the publics hands, my other argumentis why buy shares of a company that is killing for profit, there was a reasonwhy share prices go down, because you don’t want such a companies shares, sosell the damn shares) but you still have "Sehgal’s" wife still givingher brother this lame argument used by all these companies that are makingmoney "at any cost" (An after movie argument with my friend led to me convincing my friend thatdistributors can find other products and if on company closes down in anyfield, that will enable other companies to come up and they will be absorbed bycompetitors. My main argument is how you can put the larger population at ahealth risk which is fatal for the benefit of a smaller segment.) If you watch the movie carefully you will find that:- The share holder argument is crap, as the shares are all controlled by thecompany. The distributor argument and the workers argument doesn’t hold good. There arecompanies closing down due to losses what about their worker nobody is botheredabout them??? They lose their jobs then they go out and find new jobs. SO when thousands of people are being fed a slow poison why can’t the companyclose and the workers find other jobs "the normal way" like thousandsof other worker who have lost their jobs due to companies closing down andmergers. These same companies who argue about workers losing their jobs don’tthink twice when they "downsize" during a merger. What the movie does is successfully expose the corporate and their argumentthat a corporate is publicly owned company and the commons mans money is atstake. The movie shows us that the share market is fully controlled by thedirectors. These directors get all the profits and the money. The movie also shows the politicians how they also get "blind" byforeign investment. I am just sad that Madhur did not touch that subject alittle more. This movie is a revelation. I implore you to watch it. This will make many people ashamed to see how they fall into the category ofthe population that is the cause of harm to themselves and the rest of thepopulation. I heard some people coming out after the movie and saying, "I actuallyforgot about the pesticides I don’t know why this movie has made feel bad aboutmyself but now I will change" When Atul says that our Indian populations memory is bad, They"forget" I started pointing to the coke which my friend was drinkingand started making fun of him. He really was embarrassed for a moment. Therewas nothing he could argue. After this movie I am a great fan of Madhur B. I think he is passionate abouthis movies and he wants to change India. This beauty of this movie is even though it touches so many social issues, wasnever for a moment boring or never got draggy at all. Like I mentionedbefore the comic relief was perfect. The humour was intelligent and was also ajab at the present day reality. This movie deserves to be watched by every Indian. This is the movie that will actually "awaken the generation" (hint;-) hints ;-)) I would like to add that nothing was exaggerated in the movie. The portrayal of"Marva’s" character was wonderful. There are many billionaires likehim who are "god fearing". The movie also shows; how some of the"godmen" are actually political and corporate "pimps" Watch Corporate and emancipate yourself and ripple the change amonst others.
