Hi Everyone,

This is the review of a homestay which I stayed in Coorg, the name is Arunodaya UdayaRavi Homestay which is on Mandalpatti Road, close to Abbi Falls.

General Advice for city dwellers who are opting for Homestay, if you wish to be in a quite calm place where no much people surrounding you, can tolerate power cuts and prefer to stay awake whole night having your drinks with campfire etc then prefer homestay else just go for any city based resort and enjoy your stay over there.

This homestay is close to Madikeri city, just about 4 kms and you will get to visit two to three places closeby, namely mandalpatti, abby falls and omkareshwara temple.  These can be considered as cons.

Coming to the cons,

Charges per person in this homestay is Rs. 1000 which includes breakfast and night dinner, no lunch is provided as many homestays usually do.

Activities wise, there is one carrom board, which no nets at the board holes you will have to keep your hand if someone is targeting to hit the pan to the target:0) or pick it up from the ground.

Two deck of cards are put in a box people who prefer to play cards can play.  Other than these two do not expect anything here.

Bathrooms have broken commode seats, broken taps, dirty unwashed mugs and buckets, uncleaned bathrooms, dirty soap holder corner stands.  Only grace is you will get hot water 24 hours if the power is there(geyser is fitted in all the bathrooms thank god).

In the ground floor there is a hall, kitchen(dare not to enter the kitchen it is all dirty and things thrown here and there) and one room.  In the first floor there is big dining hall and three rooms,  in one room there is a broken iron cot with U shaped bed as the cot in broken in the middle and the other room is pretty ok and third room is pretty small and the bathroom stinks and very small you cant even turn around with it.

There are no staff unless one lady named Gulabi(Rose) she has to cook, maintain the house, clean, etc for which grumbles and complains she alone cannot handle all these(it is pretty obvious) if there are more guests the homestay owner Mr. Ravi will drop in from Bangalore and start helping her and I felt paying 1k per person is also high for this quality.  There are no reviews for this homestay and I could not review on this homestay and then chose it.  Hope folks it will help you in selecting the homestay.

Never go to coorg in the Nov-Dec months as it will be too windy and you will feel like leaving the place at once. Visit only in the rainy seasons, my visit to mandalpatti which is around 18 kms from this homestay went waste, since the roads are bad they took 1200 for jeep ride to that place, since it was too windy I could not be there for short time there too, Avoid Coorg in the summer and in the winter months.  Rest of the places like Omkareshwara temple, Talacauvery are pretty good.

Regards,
