We r just back from a short trip to south india and coorg was our first stop.

Let me tell u that "we" here refers to me, my hubby, my 2 yr old son and my in-laws.

We started from banglore by our private vehicle at 7 am and took our first break at

Kamat's Lokaruchi. It is on the way and it serves very good Idli-wada and coffee. Don't

miss the Wada. It is so crunchy, very tasty and mouthwatering.

Next we visited Srirangapatna and proceeded to Coorg. The last patch of the road near

coorg was a bit bad but a break after such a long time kept our spirits unhindered. We

reached Coorg at around 2.30 pm. We had booked our rooms at Hotel Mayura Valley View.

The hotel was undergoing renovation and hence the rooms were freshly painted, neat and

clean. They were on the ground floor( a plus point for my in-laws). And the windows gave a

very breathtaking view of the valley. They have a restaurant which serves good food but have

a very slow service. So after taking lunch and and a little rest we again gathered at the

restaurant which has a small verandah facing the valley. From here we watched a beautiful

but abit cloudy sunset while having our evening tea. Almost all other groups had done the

same. The sunset with the beautiful valley beneath and the mountain ranges in the background

was really breathtaking. And a hot cup of steaming tea in my hand made it a bit more magnificient

for me. Well after that we left for Raja's Seat which was just a 5 min walk from our hotel. It offers

the same valley view. There is a mini train here but it was closed for maintenance that day. But

we were just in time for the musical fountain show and we had a blast of a time watching it from

a very close distance. After Raja's seat we went to the town and did some window shopping as

well as some real shopping. Then we retired for the night.

The next day we left early for talacauvery- the birthplace of river cauvery. It is a beautiful temple

  • clean and peaceful. The temple has a flight of stairs leading to top of Bramhagiri hill. Mind you the

stairs are almost 200 in no. and of varying tread height. So it is better if senior citizens having knee

or back problem avoid it. But the view from the top is really breathtaking. After Talacauvery we

proceeded back to coorg and enroute stopped at Bhagamandalam. Here rvr Cauvery meets with

two other rivers and forms a triveni sangam. Here people take a dive in the kund but we just

sprinkled water on our head as the water was very very cold.(We hoped the rivers would understand

our problem and bless us ). After that we went to our hotel had a light lunch, checked-out, and then

went to Abbey's Fall.It is situated on a private coffee plantation and is really a beautiful spot. The

hanging bridge gives a nice view of the fall.We could feel the water drops from the falls touching us

and it was very rejuvinating. Next we headed for the Kauvery Nisargadham. Alas! here we were very

disappointed. The elephants had a weekly off on that day. The boats were closed for repairs. The

property was in a poor state. We had dropped the Dubare Camp as we had reached there in the

afternoon and the chances of watching the elephants were nill. So we had our hopes on Nisargadham

but... Well this is fate. So next we proceeded to Bylakuppe to see the Golden Temple. It is a fully

Tibetean colony. The monasteries are very colorful and bright and so are the people. They are very

friendly and ready to help you. They guided us to the temples, told its importance and finally ended

up taking photographs of our son with them. And their smiles are so contagious. We ended our coorg

trip on a happy note thanks to them and then proceeded towards Mysore. That would be another review.

So although we missed some tourist spots like Omkareshwar Temple, Iruppu Falls we enjoyed

our short trip. Hope you do it to. As this is my first review I am eagerly waiting for your remarks and

suggestions. So please give your valued tips. Till next review ciao.
