*Non Scalepel Vasectomy(NSV)

After completing our family with 2 children(3 yr old Daughter and 7 month old son), My wife and I decided to go for permanent contraceptive option to avoid unplanned pregnancy. After gathering some information on **NSV(Non scalpel vasectomy).

I decided to go for it and immediately approached Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. There during consultation(350 Rs), I was told that it would take around 10, 000 Rs for surgery to be done. I found this cost high and since I had heard that Government also created Family Planning Center, I started searching for them through net & came across one such center in Hyderabad- "FPAI"(Address provided at the end of this review)

I called them up and was given reference of Dr. Srinivas Rao, the visiting surgeon for this center. I spoke to Dr Srinivas over phone and got appointment fixed. Usually the NSV surgery is performed every Monday, however since Monday was a national holiday therefore center agreed to perform surgery on Saturday. I was given the instruction sheet(prior Urine test to check sugar levels.

Things to bring with me; like 2 syringes, bandaid; Approx cost 100 Rs, shaving off hairs around scrotum etc) and was asked to be at center at 9 Am.Upon reaching the center, I was asked to go through some paper work and sign the acceptance sheet for NSV surgery. I was given 2 injection(Pain killer; This was to check if I was allergic to medicine) and after an hour I had gone to surgery room.

The center has modern equipment to carry out surgery and it took 15 minutes of painless process to complete the surgery. Doctor had 2 Telgu speaking ladies to assist him during the surgery as well. I found Dr Rao very experienced who has been performing innumerable NSV surgeries week on week

I found that there was no rush at the center and apart from me there was only one another person(From IT services) who had come for NSV surgery with her father(Scientist). We had good time together in discussing on current slow down as well as awareness in society about vasectomy

Surprise Part -

Once the surgery is completed and Doctor prescribed me medicine and instruction sheet, the lady incharge of the center gave me 200 Rs for undergoing this surgery. She stated that this is under Govt sponsorship scheme. She further stated that men from poor family get 800 Rs for undergoing the surgery.
