I purchased Sherlock Holmes - Complete Short Stories collection(Jaico publishing house) & that was a good buy I can say for sure. We all have been reading Sherlock Holmes from childhood & even today it mesmerizes you.
Considering the fact that these stories were written more than 100 years ago, it still never fails to make you notice of the plots & the suspense built in it. The old London is well described in the novels & author makes you feel the old streets & bridges in stories.
The best part of Sherlock Holmes is "Power of Deduction" which is due to his technical knowledge on variety of subjects & close observation. The way he tells about a person from his some personal object is sometimes just astonishing. He is ably assisted by his trusted friend Sherlock Holmes who is not really a sidekick like as you see for other detectives.
I am at loss of words on selecting the best one among 56 short stories+ 4 long stories. All of them are good & selecting one above the another is really a blasphemy on my part,
Is there anything I dont like: Nothing in particular except that sometimes the words used in the stories will sound to be very funny in modern day context.
I close this review of mine with just one recommendation: Don't read it by borrowing. Own a copy & treasure it. Sir Arthur Connan Doyal has created a masterpiece & he has immortalized Sherlock Holmes & Dr Watson.
