I am going to share my experience of a true value carĀ purchase from competent. I purchased it at a mela with a promise that competent would buy back the car after one year after deducting depreciation. Unfortunately, the promise was never kept and I had to sell it at a much reduced price in the open market. The reason being true value does not buy cars more than 5 year old. But then why was I given false promise . It was a sales trick and I bought the car at a very high premium.
My suggestion to you would be to compare with the open market value of the car and bargain hard with the true value dealer. These guys will reduce their prices, if you show them your resolve. Also if you miss any one of the 3 free services, your warranty is void.
Though competent has good service centers but the quality of customer service and staff selection desires much improvement. Reputation is earned through word of mouth.I had expectations of a hassle free purchase . I am sure the overall lesson is to be wary of car dealers / verbal promises do not mean anything, over priced cars and aggressive selling.
On the other side is purchasing from teh open market and hiring a certified mechanic to look at the car . you could talk to a maruti authorised mechanic to spend some time after shift hours and pay him half a day salary.
