I bought a a compaq presario 2200 November 2004 for in excess of Rs 60,000 the Charger packed up early December and the Hard Drive a few days back .
Took it to compaq Authorized Service center in Chennai .
Day 1 :
I was told the Warranty expired and they would send me an estimate , after some pushing I got to talk to a representative of the Service Manager who apparently has given up meeting clients as there are toooo many shocked , irritated , lost clients .
I was told I would be given a discount on service after a lot of argument , they took the Laptop in as a special favour. I got an estimate alright which was around Rs. 8000. The Warranty for the new drive was also to be only 1 year .
Day 2 :
Went there to discuss the Estimate , thankfully for me I met another Owner of the Cheapest Lap top Brand , he had repaired his laptop a year back and was charged a packet for it. Same ghost came back to haunt him within a year and he was told that Warranty for the earlier parts and repairs was only 3 months hence another packet was due being a proud owner of the CHEAP Laptop.
Well My discount was a HUGE Rs 2000 hence I would have to pay Rs 6000. and NEW DRIVE warranty would be 1 year .
Got the same done outside for Rs.4200 and got myself a NEW HARD DRIVE with a Warranty for 5 years. The best part is the NEW DRIVE is the same BRAND as the ORIGINAL drive that came with the Laptop in the first place.
SO IS COMPAQ REALLY CHEAP IN PRICE OR CHEEEAAAPPP IN THEIR ATTITUDE AND SERVICE.
