I am not really very much into liqueurs. My preferences are for good beers and a fine Scotch, however, one of the liqueurs which I think is outstanding is Cointreau, which dates back to mid 19 th century France.

It is a crystal clear orange flavoured liqueur which is both a great stand alone drink and a superb mixer for cocktails. Delicious with crushed ice or mixed with a variety of ingredients. It is rich, somewhat intense, very, very, palatable and dead easy to drink.Perhaps a bit too easy to down.

Cointreau is a strong liqueur. It weighs in on the alcohol by volume (ABV) scales at some 40% so it is not a drink that should be under-estimated.

It is a breeze to find , Virtually every pub, club bar, hotel and high class restaurant in the Kingdom is likely to stock this highly regarded liqueur. It is widely available in the ''trade'',i.e., in the major off licence chains and beverage departments of the nation's major supermarkets and hypermarkets. Prices vary but expect to pay perhaps between Stg 15 and 17 pounds per 70 cl bottle. I think it is also widely available in India and it is easily found in both Malaysia and Singapore and many duty free shops at international airports stock it.

Cointreau is nicely presented in a square shaped brown glass container and you will easily spot it on the shelf of your local pub. A friend of mine pointed-out that it is distilled by the group that own the famous Remy Martin cognac and brandy. You are always learning something new . I do know, however, that this is one of my favourite liqueurs and it does come very firmly recommended by this reviewer.

Cheers

Before I conclude my deepest condolences on the tragic loss of the brilliant Indian born astronaut on the tragic Columbia space mission.

Thanks very much for reading !
