It is very true that operational culture flows from top to bottom. Your likes or dislikes about the company will depend on the project you get, time you spent in a company. Below are my experience earned over 5+ years in Infrastructure services at cognizant.
About job security -
As long as you are into project and billable, you will be happy, HR will be happy - of course because you are earning for company. Situation becomes worse while your project gets over and worsens if you do not get another project within 1-2 months. They blame you as if you are responsible to get the projects to the company and win the deal with customers.
Its a nightmare for anyone. Either accept any work if given and time may come when HR tells you to resign.
Employee value -
Its zero. Even if you work more than good 5 years or 8..You may NOT find any value for yourself.. (Company Does NOT appreciate long serving employees). Getting into another "good" project with your skills and desire role is another horrible story waiting ahead for you to face. New project manager treats you like a "newly" joined employee even after working for long long years.
And their preference goes to their "pets". and if it is onsite you need to be someone's pet to get that. Professionalism is missing in the company. Without doubt lot of politics.
This is the only company I came across where policies differs by department though not defined in corporate policy. HR simply tells you - this is not applicable for this department. Strange? but true.
Never experienced any support from company. No training, no help, be it career path, trainings, academic advancement, employee well-being or professional development, learning new technology. You are just left on your fate.
Employee care - They have started taking good initiatives but way behind competitors. Still long way to go. No financial assistance from company- like any type of loans. Recognition and award depends n Manager NOT on your work and commitment to job.
Your assessment/ratings -
This purely depends on your Manager, not on your performance. Base line is there is lack of professionalism in company and in the policy. The people at responsible post misuse their position and they literally run a parallel company within cognizant.
And management above them just don't bother. Dollar value if much much more than Employee.
So - This may be the good company for freshers to start up. For experience one, I leave the decision to them - they are matured enough to decide, but I would suggest NOT to go for this unless you have no other options available for you and you are in need of change.
Not a good place for those who like technical job. You may lose all your skills. It is not necessary that you will assigned work related to your skills after joining. This is NOT the company it used to be earlier. They hire many people blindly and later make their career/job risky.
