Of late, I have been travelling a lot and decided to try out Cafe Coffee Day's much touted coffee at various airport terminals.
To start with, the price is grossly over the top, that too when the coffee is served in a paper cup. To add insult to injury the coffee is terrible, certainly not what one expects from a speciality coffee shop and at those prices.
The coffee has been very average, mediocre flavour, no strength, and for some peculiar reason, the sales boys always add too much milk. The impression is always that the decoction is not freshly made.
At Bangalore airport and at Mumbai's domestic terminal, I had to demand extra decoction so as to render my coffee passably drinkable.
Most disappointing, even more so in the case of the Bangalore airport outlet where one would expect a coffee outlet in a predominantly coffee drinking state to have the best grade coffee.
If it is any consolation for Coffee Day, Barista is no better! I wish these fancy airports would allow Dasaprakash, Woodlands, Saravana and such like to open outlets inside the terminals. They would put all these fancy coffee shops out of business overnight.
