We were informed that we won a free 3 day 2 night package in any of the club mahindra properties in India and that the coupon would be given to us at the end of a 45 minute presentation. Thankfully we were not so gullible to believe this was as good as it sounded. So we went there only to see what the catch was and because we had nothing better to do that day. One of their representatives gave us a long dope on the benefits of a membership and what not.
At the end of it he gave us the coupon saying we can use it in any of their resorts(from a booklet) at any time. And promptly asked us if we had any questions(to save his back I guess)
We said no and walked out. When chose a resort and tried using the coupon online but we couldn't see any of the resorts that we wanted(popular and upscale ones like Munnar, Goa, Coorg). Then we called the customer care to inquire. That's when we were told for the first time that
all resorts are not part of this offer
we cannot use the voucher between 21st March and 21 July(couldnt they atleast mention that there are date constraints if not the exact dates)
we are supposed to give three choices of resorts(from the leftover non popular ones) and three date choices(before 21st march or after 21st July)
Good luck to Club Mahindra if this is how you try to attract prospective members. If for a small thing like a 2N/3D "free package" there are so many hidden clauses, how many can we expect in 25 years if we become members. That after paying a few lakh rupees. We are very glad that we learnt about the cunning marketing tactics of this firm first hand so that we can clearly stay away from such hoaxes and pass on the word to all our friends and family as well.
They think they are too smart and that customers are idiots. Well sorry Club Mahindra we happen to be educated and aware!
