We had booked a three night stay between Dec 31, 2014 and Jan 2, 2015 with this property and transferred from Binsar Villa to Naukuchiatal on 31st afternoon. The resort has studio apartments that are well furnished and maintained with good housekeeping/upkeep. The check in process was smooth. The entertainment organized on 31st evening was not up to the mark. However, the evening activities on the two subsequent evenings were quite entertaining.
The property is on the banks of the Naukuchiatal lake and is very quiet. The lake is quite picturesque and offers good boating opportunities. All studio apartments offer some basic cooking facility. So, if one is tired of the restaurant, one can get some basic cooking going. There are some restaurants that serve basic fare right outside the resort. So this is another option for guests.
Bhimtaal is quite close by and Nainital is a short distance away(about 25 kilometres). A day trip to Nainital would be in order. One can visit the Cave Gardens and then embark on a horse ride to the view points. The lake area adjacent to the Naina Devi temple is quite crowded. Those looking for locally produced handicrafts can avoid the shops on the Mall Road(most of the goods peddled here are of Chinese origin). The zoo is worth a visit and so is the ropeway ride. Ropeway rides can get sold out early.
Saattal is another lake centric attraction that can be visited.
The best part about the resort is the proximity to Nainital and the other lakes without being in the middle of the town. The place appears semi-urbanized without the hustle and bustle of the city. Adventure sports like paragliding is available from near the resort - the Activity Centre/Traveldesk to the local cab drivers/restaurants/grocery stores seem to have a tie up with the company that offers paragliding - so, guests can choose the option most comfortable for them.
The Activity Centre folks are good and can keep the children and adults engaged during the day and evening. Traveldesk, Front desk and restaurant service can do with some improvement.
Travel tips: Even in the winter, this place is not too cold. Summers can get crowded. Trains connect Kathgodham from Delhi(overnight and during the day) which is 26 kilometres away. One can also drive down from Delhi(about 300 km). Rooms 301, 302 and 303 are quite spacious and offer views of the lake besides being adjacent to the restaurant and the Activity Centre.
