Update: (Sorry about the delay)
We stayed at Coorg and had a nice experience right from check in. The studio apartment is well laid and has all amenities. The area is huge. The food at restaurant is nice though a bit expensive. The games and activities planned for women and children were really nice. Overall, we had a lovely stay after all the initial hiccups. Thank you Ms Indira and Club Mahindra.

I've been immediately contacted by Ms Indira of CM through corporate response and after mailing her I got response within 2 hrs. Ms Indira has been very prompt and helpful. She even called me in evening and this morning I had my booking confirmed. I'll update again around mid March 2010 after my holiday at Coorg. Keep watching this space.

Following a lucky draw, my wife and I had been invited for a presentation at Club Mahindra local office. They tried to sell me their membership. However, I found it expensive and was not convinced by the idea of holiday at such a high , membership fee and maintenance charges.
As per their promise we asked for our free gift coupon that entitled us to a free stay for 2N and 3D at any of selected resorts for 6 months provided we booked 15 days in advance. However, I've been trying to book it from Jan 2010 for April or March 2010 and everytime I get a reply saying the dates or said resort is NOT available. Each time I have to mai lthem and then they decline and give me new dates of their choice. I wanted Coorg resort but Now they are offering me Yercaud that too on some other days.
Even the validity of the coupon which was 6 months from date of issue was contradicted by the Customer relation executives.
I am just thinking that had I become a member, it would be a Loss-Loss situation. My membership fee would be blocked and I wouldn't get my destination or preferred dates either. What's the point in such a holiday??
They say they start booking 6 months in advance. Even if we believe that, is it possible that in spite of giving 2 or 3 alternative dates, the resorts with hundreds of apartments and cottages are not available even 5 - 8 weeks in advance.
The irony is that the same Club Mahindra Coorg is available on traveluru and other travel websites fo rthe same days that I wanted to book. But Club Mahindra didn't have any answer to that and completely ignored that point when I told them on phone and mailed them. They just say we start booking 6 months in advance.
The phone call to Club Mahindra was a total waste and they asked me to redeem online and said they were unable to tell me which dates would be available.
I would not recommend anyone to become a member and suffer. Rather I would suggest pls go ahead and enjoy your holidays at your destination of choice at your convenient time by booking online wit any of the travel websites. It's more economical, reliable and faster. No hassles. I have already done that earlier....including during peak season of Mysore Dasara when I booked two double rooms at 1350/ each at a notice of 2 weeks.
The money saved on membership fee can be invested in mutual funds or govt instruments and can earn interest. The same would give you a better holiday experience and peace of mind.
For God's sake and your own, pls Don't get into marketing gimmicks of having some free items or discounted membership.
