I was on a trip to Maldives via Colombo with my wife when my Colombo -Bangalore flight got cancelled and I had to spend almost 2 days and anight in Club Hotel Dolphin as a transit passenger for Sri LankanAirline. My first impression of hotel was good as it had a theme of ajungle and overlooks sea.


On the positive side, the foodvareity and taste was very good. The hotel has many facilities likebar, pool, billiards, TT, tennis, horse riding and badminton. There isvery nice wind in some areas in hotel and overall scenery in hotel isgood. Room was spacious and clean but bathroom was pretty average.


Thetrouble was their staff's attitude. When we reached hotel, no one toldus anything about the hotel, its facilities or what to do in the hotel.We were straightaway given a key to our room and asked to follow thedirections to the room. Noone accompanied us to our room. When wereached our room, there was no drinking water in the room and no bathtowels and soap in bathroom. We had to ask many times for all thesethings. The worst was when a person came with one 350 ml water bottleafter an hour of wait in hot afternoon and we asked him for anotherbottle, he started laughing as if we were expecing too much.


Therewas no room service menu and it was not possible to contact housekeeping directly from room. We had to call operator or reception andask them if you need anything. As I mentioned earlier, one call wasnever enough for getting anything. TV was another disappointment asthere are hardly any international channels. AC temprature was fixedand it was hot for a long time in the room.


As transitpassengers, we were not entitiled for any credit, which means if wewanted to buy anything from restaurant or use any facilities, we werefirst denied straightaway. Only after paying in advance we could getanything. Finally when it was time for checkout, we asked help to getour luggage till reception. We called and were promised 3 times within30 minutes but no one came to our room. Since we had to catch a flight, I had to carry two bags myself without any trolley!
