I must be getting old! What else could justify my buddies and me getting out of a really crowded pub that was playing good music to finally reach and enjoy Abyss. That’s what exactly Abyss is now, a place where you’d go if you want to get away from the teen boppy crowd, but still have a pub atmosphere and enjoy some good music.
Club Abyss is situated on the first floor just behind Motimahal restaurant and is a place that is sized just right. They have an un-cramped atmosphere and comfortable seating surrounded by mirrors and tanks housing huge fish. There is a small dance floor sandwiched between a full wall mirror and the DJ’s booth if you want to shake a leg – we did and it was nice having the place to actually move your body while dancing.
The staff was courteous and we got our drinks served quite promptly. The price of a pitcher of beer was at par with most other places of its caliber, but the other alcohols were slightly on the expensive side.
My only complaint would be the food menu. There are a total of about eight dishes to choose from (unless the guy serving me had hidden the rest of the menu somewhere) and that amounts to you only getting a choice of the meat or vegetable you want, not the way it will be prepared. The price of the chicken and the prawn dishes were almost the same, which was quite a surprise and we ended up ordering and reordering the prawns which were really delicious.
All in all, Abyss isn’t a place that can boast of anything exceptional. What it can assure you of is good drinks, good food, good music and a good ambience which sum up to you having a good time. Go there…
