Im a crazy creature-movie freak. I still love Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Aliens III, ET and all those good movies, ah Anaconda, lake Placid - wow!
But Cloverfield just dint shake me, but shook my hear as they shook the camera. I bet, you are gonna get a head reel in the first 15 minutes. The movie actually begins after 20 to 30 minutes of a party. So that's a long wait.
The director wanted the movie to be so realistic that he made the whole movie, damn, as if I shot it with my sony camcoder. It shakes a lot, sometimes difficult to focus, and though it looks realisitc, the story is not so strong. like any other movie, there is a alien invasion, or some creature as big as the statue of liberty invades NY.
The best scenes are the head of liberty bonging down the roads of NY, the buildings crashing down, and finally the person with the CAM getting eaten, thanks god. But the hero resumes the camera hunt. Drag!!
Nothing's special there. The creature looks familiar. And everyone's running havoc. In the end no one knows what happened to the creature, I mean how the UN and US manage to get rid of it.
The director should have made it more thrilling like the Aliens, or anything. Even though the original looks are very realistic, I think its realistic to the core, because sometimes you dont like things too real, I mean so real like you run from a demon with the camera still on. he he.
I felt like I saw Primeval, where I went to see the croc, and later in the end realized the movie was not about the croc but some civil war.
