We were a happy couple two months ago but all our hopes and dreams went in vain when the Cloud Nine Jayanagar radiologist threw a surprise to us in 9th month of my wife's pregnancy, she was about to deliver in a week or 10 days max.
We were consulting Dr.Anuradha who was referred to us by one of my friend. My parents questioned me is that a good hospital when I told them we will go there for consultation when my wife turned pregnant in the month of July 2013. I proudly told my mother it's a very good hospital and specially meant for maternity related stuffs. Now I regret my decision!
Dr Anuradha .S what can I say about her?! Waiting time to consult her is more than the time of total consultation with her. Still we trusted her every time we visit her. Initially it was 3 weeks once meet with her which reduced two weeks once and finally 1 week once when it was almost close to 9th month and delivery date. All she used to say in every meet, "Everything is looking fine and normal. Eat healthy, exercise", hardly 10 minutes by the time we enter her consultation room and come out listening her words.
They ask you to do multiple scanning like "growth scan, anomaly scan etc .". So totally we had done 6 scans and each scan is not less than 2.5 k to 3k sometimes. We used to consult Dr Sureka as she was the one available Radiologist most times. Dr Sureka speaks very sweet words baby is naughty, not showing face and hiding etc every time but she forgets her job to check the fetus growth and health during development.
March 14th, 2014 we had a growth scan appointment with her. baschandru021y this scan is to check position of baby inside tummy and check weight etc and to see whether normal delivery is possible or not. We went for scanning on same day.
She started saying position of the baby looks fine, its almost close to fix, you may get labor pain in 2-3 days or a week max as the delivery date given was 26th March 2014. Suddenly after saying few sweet words she started looking back all previous 5 scan records videos graphs etc. I was not understanding why she is looking back all old records when in previous scans all were normal and baby is healthy was told by same Dr Surekha.
Now comes the real face of D Sureka, she said baby's heart looks dilated(means right ventricle shows bigger in size)! There might be problem in baby's blood circulation inside one of the valve. She was shivering and even she was speaking very low and stammering as she was not able to find out the problem in any of the previous 5 scans which even had 2 anomaly scans which were specially done to see any problem with any of the organs of the baby wrt growth. We were in a shock, don't know what to and why this has happened.
I asked her is it a problem which couldn't be figured out earlier? She said she had not seen any such things in any old reports( My question is how could she see any abnormality in report when scan itself was not to perfection?). She even recorded the video of the heart from ultrasound machine and sent it to pediatric doctor who did not respond immediate.
My question is how can this kind major problems cannot be detected during earlier stage of fetus development when we do multiple scans to identify same? Is she not a professional or lack experience or lack concentration and commitment in her job or they played with us to fetch extra money?
Total 6 scans within July 2013 - march 2014, and they could not identify a heart disease?
I am very sad to say that our baby was suffering from Pulmonary atresia, a heart disease where the valve is blocked which does not pump blood from right ventricle towards lungs for purification. But the bay was alive because they will have one more valve opening called PDA when inside mother until birth through which blood was flowing in reverse direction to reach lung.
Dr Anuradha on seeing report told us now we cannot do anything as child is inside and only after birth anything medchandru021y can be done. She said she rule out normal delivery now as baby may turn blue because of stress or if any other complication during normal delivery like baby passing stool will add to complication. We wanted to save our child very badly so we agreed for C section very next day, 15th March 2014. Later we came to know she was going on vaccation from 25th April 2014 onwards but my wife's expected date was anytime between 26th to 30th march 2014 so I can guess now why she rules out normal delivery!.
Baby girl was born at 11.14 am and immediately shifted to NICU for further medical care where they said a pediatric cardiologist would come and do Echogram on heart. And as they planned, result was favorable for them and disease they identified positive and needs medical treatment within next 24-48 hours because the PDA valve would get closed automatchandru021y after birth within that time. So they started giving very high medicines to keep that PDA open in our baby girl.
Same 15th evening we shifted baby to Manipal hospital as a surgery was very much required and we were referred to that hospital by cloud nine only since doctor at narayana hrudayala was not in town as said by them. Before even taking confirmation from us where to take our baby they had even spoken with one of the cardiac specialist at Manipal hospital and informed about all things about baby's condition. We had no other choice than accepting manipal as we badly wanted our child to be saved since she was the first child of us and first girl baby in our family.
When I consulted other doctors everyone said in 3rd month or 16-20 weeks they can easily identify such anomaly but our so called specialist Dr sureka couldn't see it though she was using sophisticated machines which does it job.
Our daughter was operated on 17th first time to open the block using heart catheterization where they sent a wire inside vein of her leg to open the block, unfortunately it was failed.
Immediately on 19th March 2014, Open heart surgery was conducted for this congenital heart defect. After all we could not save our baby. She died on April 2nd 2014. There is a lot of experience happened to us at Manipal hospital also. They also played with the kid and with us. I would write my experience at Manipal hospital also soon.
Why I wrote this review about Cloud nine hospital is because I do not want any other new couple who are expecting a child to suffer like us in this hospital for their negligence.
We went to cloud nine even after knowing a normal delivery would cost min 70k and a c section might reach 1 lakh without bothering about money because we were under the impression that they give very high care to mother and child with at most new techno available but we are totally disappointed.
Please go to a doctor whom you know well or very much experienced. Person like Dr Sureka who is a like a half boiled rice cannot give commitment to their job and screw your happiness to the extent possible at the end.
