As you all guys/gals know taking a good snap is all about 5 main things, 1. aperture 2. shutter speed 3. depth of field. 4 framing and 5 YOU.

  1. Aperture:- it is the size of the h.o.l.e. which opens which determines how much light is allowed on the film( pixel screen in case of digital cam) .This means the aperture can be minimum when shooting where there is too much of light. and maximum when there is less light.

2.Shutter speed. As the name suggests it is the time taken by the shutter to open and close. this is very handy when you are clicking fast moving objects. like fishes/ moving cars/ sport actions etc. lets say 1/1000 th of a second to 3seconds this is the range I have seen. the perfect photo is achieved by the balance betwen the shutter speed and the aperture. the faster the shutter speed the aperture has to increase proportionally.

  1. Depth of field. have you seen photographs in which the person is standing and the whole background is blurred? well. this happens because your focused object is the person/subject. an over head projecter is a good example.. the distance between the lens and the projecter decides on the clarity of the image displayed. as you change the distance the object becomes blurr.. this is the same principle.. the image you are trying to shoot is at a perfect distance. the other objects are further away or nearer so they appear blurred.

  2. Framing. now this attribute is left to the person clicking the photograph. if you are clicking some person or object first thing that you should see is balancing the object parallel or perpendicular to the viewfinder. the trick is .. find an object like a door frame/tree/ the footpath which has a straight line and match the border of the viewfinder to it. of course.. if you wanna be creative in your shooting you can show some talent here.

  3. YOU. what you have to do before clicking any object.. point wise

a) See how much light is falling on the object. how much is getting reflected.

b) Use the flash if you are shooting with a lit background. even outdoors.in daytime. because a lit background (eg the sky, a tubelight ) will make the subject appear dark and like a shadow.

c) AVOID using flash. it spoils the natural depth in the images and gives a coat of lighting from 1 direction hereby making the photo very pale and flat. use of flash should be avoided as much as possible.

d) buy a basic Manual digital camera and try shooting...it saves a lot of money than trying to print all the experimental photos.(sony DSC-H1 is what I would recommend)

e)A film roll would be equalent to a 4.1-5.1 MP..anything more than that megapixal would not be necessiacity until u r trying to print it for a big hoarding.

this is what I have learnt by myself. kindly comment on this review if I need to add stg it would even help me to shoot better pics. happy clicking..
